It is applicable. It's an argument by analogy, and so of course there is going to be some dissimilarity among the things being compared. There doesn't have to be perfect similarity. -

They must think that just because one parent is white.....and one parent is black....that it means that they're 50% white and 50% black.
However, if they were to do a dna analysis of their blood (depending on what they look like) those ratios would more than likely be skewed higher to their black side than their white side.
Simply because melanin is the dominant trait of the dominant gene. -

That's a relative judgment about which we seem to disagree. Semantics aside, if you were to compare the terminology we use for outbreeding within the human species to that which we use for other species how does it still present a false equivalency?
Outbreeding does not produce offspring identical to neither parent so why imply this is the case for humans when we do not do it for other animals?
I'd reckon there is an agenda behind it. -
