Soccer fans, especially in Spain, Italy, Germany and France, are notoriously racist. In some leagues clubs get fined/sanctioned for the actions of their fans for bringing racist signs or shouting racist slurs at players. Somebody threw a banana on the field at Alves and he just picked it up, ate it, and kept playing like ain't ? happen -

I've read stories of fans being banned for acts of racism at soccer games. Game wasn't stopped though. They were just kicked out while the game was still going on -
