Less than 48 hours after the Donald Sterling alleged audio recording turned into a global topic,
new reports claim multiple companies have pulled back their support from his Los Angeles Clippers.
According to reports, sponsors CarMax and State Farm have taken action in light of the owner's alleged remarks.
CarMax pulled its sponsorship of the team and Steve Stoute, CEO of Translation,
a marketing firm connected to State Farm, urged the insurance company and others to suspend sponsorship of the team because of comments that have stirred an outrage over the weekend.
State Farm, of course, is the company that pays Clippers guard Chris Paul, who is also president of the National Basketball Players Association, for those wonderful Chris Paul/Cliff Paul commercials. "Sponsoring the athletes is one thing, but not the team." CarMax ended its nine-year relationship, saying in a statement that it "finds the statements attributed to the Clippers' owner completely unacceptable." (Washington Post)
Almost immediately following the reports, updates suggested the relationship could be resumed after the Sterling controversy is addressed.
UPDATE No. 2: State Farm has said that they are suspending their relationship with the Clippers, but will leave the door open. "We are monitoring the situation and we'll continually assess our options. We have a great relationship with Chris Paul and will continue supporting the Born to Assist advertising campaign involving Chris and now other NBA players," a State Farm rep told TMZ.
ESPN reporter Darren Rovell revealed a couple other sponsors have not taken any immediate action following the publicized drama.

Say what you want about Steve Stoute,
But atleast he getting ? done..
That's the whole point of having "OUR" people in these high positions,
I have a new found respect for Stoute now.. -
Good. With enough pressure, Sterling probably can be forced out.
That's where the real focus should be, not on whether or not the players play a game. They should participate in applying the pressure too. -

Papa John's and Olive Garden will sponsor the clippers.
-
Awesome.
But embarassing to a lot of our people just standin by at the same time.It took some white company heads to do this, and they r basically sayin:
Well...i dont know about what you black mfers r doin (Doc, CP3, players, analysts), but we're actually gonna take an action instead of just talking/playing
Not that they're doin this out of the kindness of their heart, but still. They DID something.
-
And that's how you get the ball rolling applaud the sponsors for doing their own protest gesture
-
It still would have been nice for clippers to boycott game 4 and force nba to reschedule.......that would have sent a big message..... they missed a golden opportunity.......
-
Awesome.

I don't even care. If those ? don't care about their own pride why should anyone else?
People can do what they want but dude still owns the team and they will be good little nigglets and dance play because they don't want to "upset" anybody.
? them, the coach, people who watched it and Sterling. -

If someone bails them out by convincing sponsors to pull money then fine. It doesn't change that not one of those ? had the guts to be a man.
