Colin Farrell has told an Irish newspaper that he will appear in Season 2 of the HBO drama, following previous speculation that he and Taylor Kitsch were in talks for two of the anthology series’ leading roles.
The Dublin-born actor reportedly told Ireland’s Sunday World, “I’m doing the second series. I’m so excited. I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot.”
When reached by TVLine for comment on Sunday, an HBO spokesperson was not at this time able to confirm Farrell’s casting.
Farrell offered Sunday World no specifics of his role, but did note that filming will take place in Los Angeles.
Still possibly on the roster for Season 2 (aside from Kitsch): Mad Men‘s Elisabeth Moss and Swingers actor Vince Vaughn, among others.

HBO at long last has confirmed the first specifics about season two of drama series “True Detective,” including the casting of Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in lead roles.
Story will revolve around three cops and career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy after a murder.
Farrell plays Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a man in danger of losing his criminal empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.
Justin Lin is on board to direct the first two episodes of the eight-episode season. Lensing is set to begin later this fall in California for a January premiere.
sounds a lot more standard in theory than season 1 but the casting choices (so far)have made me curious to check it out.
Vince Vaughn as a negative character is interesting.he bombed as Norman Bates. -
