A gangster family epic set in Birmingham just after the First World War, based on the historic Peaky Blinders gang. The story centres on a gang who sew razor blades in the peaks of their caps (hence the title), and their ambitious and highly dangerous boss Tommy Shelby. The gang come to the attention of Chief Inspector Chester Campbell, a detective in the Royal Irish Constabulary who is sent over from Belfast to Birmingham to clean up the city and purge it of the gangs.
The second series is set two years after the first, and sees the Shelby family expand their business into London.
I just noticed it on netflix tonight. Starting it right now. Anyone check it out yet?

I watched the first episode yesterday. It was alright I guess. Might give it a couple more episodes but nothing really screamed "awesome" from the first episode.

Anybody ever finish this? I just wrapped up season 2 and it's definitely worth the watch. Especially season 2 when Tom Hardy joins the cast. It's on Boardwalk Empire status for me personally, but there aren't entire episodes that are slow. Something major happens in every episode. Excellent series and can't wait for the next season!

There is a lad I work with who is totally obsessed with this and swears that this is essential TV. Never got round to watching it but I'll have to give it a go some time.

You ever catch some episodes Lou? I got the first season, watched the first episode but I was blowed/falling asleep. Worth checking out? -
Nah never followed up with it. I dont know why, but despite it being the same language, the accent throws me off and i cant understand ? anyone is saying lol. Might check it out when i dont have ? to watch though.

If you like Boardwalk Empire you'll like this. BE didn't wow me either when I first started it, and neither did this. A few episodes in though and you gain a deep appreciation for it. Good thing is it's only 6 episodes per season and only 2 seasons so far. Easy to catch up on. Little effort with a lot of reward.

Thought I'd give this a go...episode 3 and it is good.
Didn't know dude who plays Tommy was Irish. Always thought he was American. Played some big roles..notably Batman.
It is like a UK version of BE. -
A friend recommend it to me afew weeks back so I watched both seasons, really good ? can't wait for it to come back on.
