'Ghostbusters' Reboot Gets Rebooted With ‘The Heat’ Writer; Will No Longer Be Connected To Original

Watching the development of “Ghostbusters 3,” or “the Ghostbusters” reboot, or whatever you want to call it, has been a little bit painful to say the least. The long and short is Bill Murray wanted nothing to do with it (which makes it less interesting by half) and Dan Aykroyd, seemingly the only real champion of the picture, would basically swear every six months or so that it would be shooting in about six months. And it never happened. Sentiment quickly turned into “sure, we’ll believe it when we see it, pal,” and then to make matters worse Harold Ramis passed away.
And then everything radically changed. “Bridesmaids” filmmaker Paul Feig came on board as the director, and it was his intention to make the series with female leads. Bill Murray recently suggested Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Emma Stone as the leads, and while no actresses are confirmed or even in talks yet, according to THR, the series is indeed getting a major makeover.
Katie Dippold, Feig’s writer on “The Heat,” is coming on board to co-write the screenplay. The trade confirms what we’d heard over the year: Aykroyd’s version followed the original Ghosbusters crew handing down the business to a younger generation of supernatural sleuths. THR says Feig’s female-lead twist “would no longer be connected to the earlier movies but now launch a new series.”
With Murray standing down and Ramis out of the picture, this make sense. Will Aykroyd appear in the project? We assume he’d love to. He has recently been saying he’d love to take a Marvel Cinematic Universe approach to the material (gee, how original....you and everybody else in Hollywood hoping to rub two dimes together). THR also says it’s unclear if this new “Ghostbusters” will be Paul Feig’s next movie, so you could be possibly waiting a few more years if he chooses to do another movie first. Meanwhile, original 'Ghostbusters' star Ernie Hudson has his own thoughts.

I'll wait to see how it comes together before I pass judgement

If its not gonna be connected to the first 2 then why call it ghostbusters 3?

They should give this to apatow. I think he would make it good.

So I guess when they reboot Charlie's angels it will be all dudes?
-
So I'm guessing that big chick from the heat will be in it?

Kristin Wiig is funny as ? tho. So is McCarthy, but idk about this.

Only way I would care about a ghostbusters 3 is if the original cast was in it, but now the Ramis passed away and Murray never wanted anything to do with it the first place there's no chance of that happening, it's too bad too they could of easily came up with a script where the ghostbusters had to come together after so long and dust off the old equipment to take on some type of ghost epidemic, throw in a slimer and Rick Moranis cameo and you got an epic movie, this new ? is going to be cheesy as hell

They better pull some batman begins type quality out they ass for me to be interested.

well at least it won't be based on that Extreme Ghostbusters we are the world ? where we had to have a handicapped dude and a goth chick

It's going to be more Hollywood than source material..,
The original two were horror/comedies
This is going to be sci fi action -
man they could have kept akroyd ,murray, and hudson and brought somebody new in like jonah hill as an intern.
-
I thought Ramis and aykroyd said the video game was gonna be the official Ghostbusters 3 since they used a lot of ideas they had for it
-
Must miss.

well damn... Bill Murray looks healthy, besides a few grey hairs Ernie Hudson hasn't aged a day, Dan Aykroyd lost a ton of weight props to this dude.. and still smash on Ripley at age 65???? -
Did yall know there was a 1975 TV show called The Ghostbusters?
Totally unrelated to the movie
The 80's Ghost Busters pretty much stole the name then shut the company out of the cartoon rights after changing there minds on what animation company to deal with
That led to the totally confusing Ghostbusters cartoon that has nothing to do w/ the film that the original company made
It's why the cartoon related to the film is called The real Ghostbusters
The other ghostbusters cartoon had a short run and confused the hell out of me as a kid
