Neil Patrick Harris To Host 87th Academy Awards In February 2015

With awards season getting into swing, there's no better time for Variety to report that the 87th Academy Awards, airing on ABC on February 22nd, 2015, will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. The former child star has enjoyed s great career since his comeback following Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, and he has enjoyed great success as a series regular every single season of "How I Met Your Mother," several big stage musicals and most recently, a pivotal role in the thriller Gone Girl this month. As for hosting duties, Harris has already livened up both the Tony Awards and the Emmy ceremony this year, so he's ready.
You can probably expect Harris do some singing and dancing since he's a musical star and whatnot, but hopefully it won't be awkward and forced like it was with James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Hopefully there will be some kind of reference and parody of his role in Gone Girl, just for a little bit of fun. After hosting the Oscars, if Harris can get a gig hosting the Grammys, then he'll have an EGOT of sorts when it comes to hosting duties. Anyway, we've still got a few months to wait before the ceremony, and plenty of movies to feast upon until then, so stay tuned for more awards season madness.
