After years of success together, Mac Miller and Rostrum Records parted ways in January. For the rest of the year, the Pittsburgh native has remained independent — until now.
“Warner is the most independent thinking company I met with,” Mac told The FADER, confirming on Tuesday (October 21) that he had signed with Warner Bros. “It is a partnership and now I can focus on building my label Remember through music and let them handle everything I don’t like doing. Nothing will change in how I do things.”
His own imprint, Remember Music, will now be distributed through Warner, and he’ll still be able to sign artists.
The 22-year-old dropped one project, Faces, in his post-Rostrum, pre-Warner months. There’s no word yet on when we’ll get his first major label album, but he did warm fans up on Tuesday with a new song, “Just Some Raps, Nothing To See Here, Move Along,” produced by Sap.
"I have four albums done right now — not done, but four albums that have a foundation and have at least seven songs on each of them,” Mac told MTV News in December of last year. “The [new] one that I think is actually gonna be the next Mac Miller album was like an accident, which is dope. I’m gonna make music, and I’m gonna capture every aspect of being a human being. That’s really all I’m trying to do.”

He's probably got a deal where part of his performance revenue is going to the label -
He sells 100k first week indy, then signs to a major? ? hustling backwards imo. Should have stayed indy.
-
at this point I don't know why anybody who's establish would ever signed to a major I don't know what they can do for any artists

He signed some variation of a 360 deal no doubt. People kinda give 360 deals a bad rap but they make sense in some cases. It's basically like the label giving him 10 million in hopes that his ENTIRE brand will bring back home 12 million. This is opposed to back when they were giving money and you were expected to pay it back with just record sales. Obviously there's less money to be made from record sales but there's more opportunities to be made in other areas for artists (endorsements, streaming sites, commercial placements etc.) Labels feel like since they put money up to help you get hot(ter) to make all of those opportunities happen, then they should get a cut back from the proceeds. They're not entirely wrong in that case.
Bottom line, just because an artist signed a 360 deal doesn't mean they got ? . And on the other side of the coin, just because your contract ain't 360 don't mean you're not getting ? either. Mac Miller seems like he know what he doing so I'm sure his paperwork is right. Looks like another victory for white rappers here. -
i dont get why they would give him a 10Mill deal

It's more to this than album sales. So many other avenues to get revenue. -
