although I don't agree with the o/p.. I do feel that because females are naturally emotional they sometimes equate love and hate.. because hate/ anger is such a strong emotion they get drawn to a person that can bring that emotion out of them... thus switching/ confusing that emotion with love.. this is why "ass holes" get alot of females and drama..

If so, describe what kind of "hate" it was. Did you hate him because he was disrespectful and annoying(I woundn't qualify this as hate), or did you hate him because he beat the ? out of your bother or something?
