The first American's migrated to this hemisphere between 15000-17000 years ago across a land bridge that connected Asia to what is now Alaska. Over thousands of years they developed nations, civilizations, and diverse cultures throughout North, Central and South America. These nations thrived for millenniums with some researchers claiming the population of the western hemisphere ranged from 20-120 million.
Christopher Columbus arrived in the Caribbean in 1492 and was warmly received by the natives. After being welcomed in the New World by a peaceful and generous people Columbus immediately enslaved, kidnapped and exploited these people in his search for gold. Excerpts from Columbus' log show the mindset of European explorers:
"They ... brought us parrots and ? of cotton and spears and many other things, which they exchanged for the glass beads and hawks' bells. They willingly traded everything they owned... . They were well-built, with good bodies and handsome features.... They do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance. They have no iron. Their spears are made of cane... . They would make fine servants.... With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want."

Early European settlers wrote about the densely populated societies they encountered. Sixteenth century priest Bartolome de las Casas noted that the Indies were "full of peopie, like a hive of bees, so that it seems as though ? had placed all, or the greater part of the human race in these countries". Yet according to James Loewen, "fewer than 200 full-blooded Haitian Indians were alive in 1542. By 1555, they were all gone". Many died from malnutrition and overwork, while even more perished from smallpox or other diseases. This is supported by other accounts. In 1631, New England clergyman Increase Mather wrote that a conflict between natives and white settlers was resolved by disease. "? ended the controversy by sending the small pox amongst the Indians". As a result", whole towns of them were swept away, in some of them not so much as one Soul escaping the Destruction".

In 1637 the first all out massacre of the indigenous population in what is now America happened along the Mystic River in what was the the Pequot nation but is now Connecticut. In less than 60 minutes Englishman John Mason led an attack on a Pequot fort that slaughtered between 400-700 people mostly women and children many of whom were burned to death. This was the first but unfortunately not the last massacre of native people in this nation. Between massacres of Native Americans and the diseases that Europeans brought to this hemisphere it has been estimated that the population of the America's fell to 6 million by 1650. The slaughter continued for hundreds of years more until Europeans had taken over the entire continent and left millions of indigenous people dead.

As we are on the eve of Thanksgiving, a national holiday that is rooted in this epic slaughter of humanity, my question is what exactly are we celebrating??? In addition to the unprecedented genocide that was inflicted on the indigenous population by Europeans you also have the ironic issue of illegal immigration that is one of the key issues in today's current events. Amerikkka is now up in arms over illegal immigration but yet as a nation this country proudly celebrates Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims who were in fact ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS when they landed on these shores. So as everyone gathers around the table to eat turke, watch football and participate in the most American of all holidays my question again is what part of this multi-continental genocide are we celebrating?????

early Europeans also ate their dead during the winter when they ran out of food and started dying off bc they didnt know how to grow crops
Indians witnessed them dying off and digging up graves to eat corpses then intervened
what savages those natives were -
pilgrims were also baffled by the Indians insistence to take baths daily
-
A day off.... maybe a 4 day weekend.
-
i know the savageness of the original thanksgiving, but im still gonna eat and watch football

Happy Thankstaking
-
I see it as a day of awareness
I don't celebrate a day of genocide that been packaged as a retail holiday
HISTORY IS WRITTEN BY THE VICTORS
They will fabricate and manipulate the ? outta history and erase the truth
The truth will find those that really want it -
-
A damn good reason to fry turkey's and sell to friends and other people
-
We all know the origin of Thanksgiving
When we celebrate not a single ? is given about that while im mindful of the origin
We are not celebrating that... we are celebrating family, food and football -
-
"Sometimes I think the silence is worst then all the violence Fear is such a weak emotion that's why I despise it"

right b/c historical fact is like cryptonite to your average white man -
we go through this every year with left-wing activists lol
YES we genocide'd the Natives
And nobody's ever been outraged enough about it to turn down a mean-ass grub and some football lol
Now listen, when you celebrate "Thanksgiving", what you are actually celebrating is the proclamation of the Pope of Rome,
Who later, in league with Queen Isabella sent Cardinal Ximenos to Spain to murder any blacks that resisted Christianity. These Moors, these black men and women
were from Baghdad, Turkey. And today, you eat the turkey, for your "Thanksgiving" day as the European Powers destroyed the Turkeys who were the forefathers of your mothers and fathers.
Now pass the stuffing, you ? -ass ? ! -
Turkey and football ain't got ? to do with celebrating the holiday.
? this is a random Sunday afternoon to se people. -
ever wonder how ? came up with the idea for the holocaust?
