A feature film adaptation of Stephen King’s IT is finally moving into production, with True Detective's Cary Fukunaga set to direct.
IT producer Dan Lin revealed the news to Vulture last night, saying that preparations for the film will begin in March, with principle photography planned for summer 2015.
IT is one of Stephen King's more popular novels, which follows a group of childhood friends who are haunted by an evil entity that takes the form of a demonic clown called Pennywise. When Pennywise returns to stalk friends in their adulthood, the friends fight back to stop the evil spirit once and for all.
Lin also revealed that he and Fukunaga will break Stephen King's novel into two separate films. The first film will follow Pennywise’s terrorizing the friends when they are children. The second installment will jump to the future, with the grown-up friends striking back at Pennywise.”“The book is so epic that we couldn’t tell it all in one movie and service the characters with enough depth,” Lin told Vulture.
Despite being one of King’s most memorable properties, IT has only seen a television miniseries adaption. Lin confirmed that he and Fukunaga received King’s blessing before moving ahead with the project, describing the author’s response as “Go with ? , please! This is the version the studio should make.”

Cs. I went to daycare the day after watching this. They had a life size cardboard cutout of a clown. A lil ? snapped and shredded pennywise. Almost got kicked out of the daycare. -

Great movie but a terrible ending, hopefully they get that right

As long as it isn't just a gore fest for cheap jump scares but is like the show with the creepy ass atmosphere and that dirtbag clown ? with them lol.

I'm the same way with clowns. My niece had a clown magician at her birthday party and I couldn't even be in the same room as that ? . ? freaky as hell.

Stephen King Approves of the screenplay and everything, I think its going to be a bit scarier. and its going to be rated R.
I do agree with Ironman though, i hope its not some eli roth style gorefest. Besides pennywise, the atmosphere/vibe of the first movie really made it alot creepier than theatrical films. First movie was a made for TV movie lol. Prolly best made for tv horror movie ever. -
most def. checkin for this.
-
Oh yes... they float Georgie, they all float.
-
Just watched the movie not too long ago ...like somebody said I hope they keep it eerie and creepy and not go for gore ....I'll def be checkin for this
-
Pennywise would ? hella ? ... you know how many fools dropped their phones down the sewers
Random ? : ? , dropped my ? phone
Pennywise: No worries Malik. I found your phone floating. Here take it.
Random ? : Ah good looks my ? .
Pennywise: Rarh!!!! -
man i hope this dude does a good job at directing it because "it" and pennywise is goat horror movie material

Saw the first one, couldn't eat fortune cookies for years after that.
Read the book a lil later (when I became a teen), ? had me having some ? up nightmares for weeks.
But ? it, I'm all for the feature film if they do it right. -

That book was messed up........I'm telling you even if you read it in the daytime, it will ? with you. -
I don't like the two movies, the made for TV movie with the adults was terrible to me. The kids version where Pennywise actually terrorized them was decent.
Some of the scenes in the book from the childhood though I don't think they can bring to the big screen though. -
I'm in der.
R.I.P. John Ritter

A lot of psychiatrist owe the increase of new clients to that movie.
Muthafuccas wasn't even scared of clowns until that movie came out. -
