Wale’s track ‘Girls on Drugs‘ was a standout on his Festivus mixtape. But the DC emcee is having problems in his attempt to also release it on his upcoming Album About Nothing.
The cut is pretty thoroughly based on a sample of the Janet Jackson classic ‘Go Deep.’ And the word is Ms. Jackson thinks ‘Girls on Drugs’ lyrical content is too nasty, and won’t clear the sample.
It’s just a rumor, but Wale strongly hinted that what’s going on in a Twitter exchange yesterday.
Do you think Jackson has a point about protecting her brand and not allowing Wale to sell the track as is? And would it be possible to remove all the “drugs” from ‘Girls on Drugs?’

Samples eating ? 's songs up in recent years. That beat is easily recreated without the sample though. The vocal sample isn't even necessary

Wale ain't talking about ? but it's a creative beat concept.... That should stay a concept.
Janet's music is not meant to promote girls doing drugs. She has the right to decide that as an artist. You wouldn't take 'I'll always love you " by Whitney Houston and make it a song about da coco, would you?
At least poetic justice stayed in context... -
I see no problem here
-
Change the song name, smart dumb ? ...
-
I mean Cole spoke on this in his credits
I don't really understand being a ? about samples....
Oh yeah and Wale is a better musician than Janet Jackson -

its easy to understand.
for some people, it aint about money. its about ownership. if i dont want you to use my ? , you aint using it.
why should i let you use my ? just because you made something new outta it?
You put the ? into the ? world
There's really no reason not to unless the artist is trash

I know ya'll hate Wale but the bold is just wrong. That's not what the song is about. It doesn't promote girls using drugs it's about girls using drugs as escapism. -

to add to this, hes also calling women "? ".
Uhh...this the same Janet Jackson that cleared the sample on and appeared on a remix to Plies "Bust It Baby" song...lets not act like using the word "? " is what made her say no to clearing this sample. -
I wouldn't that clown sample my ? either if I was her. Janet the goat!
