Network greenlights six episodes of the untitled autobiographical sitcom
NBC ordered its first comedy of the season on Tuesday.
The network greenlit six episodes of Jerrod Carmichael‘s untitled multi-camera sitcom, an autobiographical series inspired by the actor and stand-up comedian’s real life relationships. Supporting characters on the show include Carmichael’s contrarian father (David Alan Grier), therapist-in training girlfriend (Amber West), ever-hustling brother (Lil Rel Howery) and religious mother (Loretta Devine).
Carmichael and his “Neighbors” director Nick Stoller wrote the pilot for the series, which was directed by Mark Cendrowski and previously titled “Go Jerrod Go.”
Carmichael, who also provides voice work for the FXX animated series “Lucas Bros. Moving Co.,” is executive producing the project with Stoller and Ravi Nandan (“Animal Practice,” USA’s “Playing House”).
Universal Television is producing.
“We’re excited to be going forward to series with Jerrod. We can’t wait to see how he and his outstanding cast deliver the funny,” NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke told TheWrap in a statement.
Other NBC comedy pilots still awaiting the green-light include an untitled Monica Potter project, “Cuckoo,” “Strange Calls” and “Take it From Us,” to name a few.

Nice haven't seen David Allen Grier in a while
His girlfriend in the show don't look too bad either

His HBO special was solid
Good to see his hard work pay off -

Kids funny. Ill watch.

This show funny as ? ! David Alan Grier got me rolling
And they got a live studio audience. Makes it feel more realistic. A lot of sitcoms have been corny and lame these days. Dude might have a hit on his hands.
They even talking about current events like black lives matter and donald trump running for president. -

Wasn't she in 22 Jumpstreet? -
Jus watched the first 2 eps. Its not bad. The 1st was okay, 2nd was much better. The mother is wayyyyyyy to over the top imo. But other that, ill keep watching.
I like that he is atleast trying to say something, speaking on current events n stuff.
Btw david alan grier is the star of the show -
I gotta peep it.it seems like dude was fast tracked to fame, but he has this alternative vibe.
he's a funny/twisted dude.reminds me of Chappelle mixed with Louis CK or some white funny comic because he's dryer than most black comics.Dude is a funny and creative guy from what I saw.
Gotta peep this show. -
This might be a slow burner just like Blackish was. I didn't even know this show was out till a couple days ago, I can see the potential in it.

Watching right now

I ? with this. Dudes kinda mopey and lackadaisical, but he's funny and so is the cast. Didn't mind the laugh track, it fits the show. Not every sitcom lends it's self to not having one.
D.A.G. is comedy and Loretta Devine always holds it down. I wonder how many times her and Jennifer Lewis bump in to each other at auditions.
The brother and his wife are pretty funny so far also.
I was in tears when he said he saw Zimmerman at a Dave and Busters -
Watched it. Not bad. The live studio audience gave it a fresher feel because most shows deviate from it.
It's got potential as a sleeper. -
This on hulu?

If they tone down the mother. It has sleeper potential. -

Yea, I really had to search for it. Usually they put the newer shows on the main page. I had to go find NBC's channel page then do a bunch of scrolling

Checked out the first 2 episode.
The son and gf gives me more of a sibling vibe than a bf/gf vibe -
Checked it out yesterday on Hulu. It was alrightm dont know if ill check for the rest of the season or not. I hate shows like this with the laughs and what nots.
That bit in the first episode of him and his dad talking about obama and voting for bush was pretty funny though. -
This a hit to me. Watched the last 2 episodes, I'm sold.
Dude kick game nice too, word to Marlon Wayans as Marlon Williams. -
I watched both episodes it was cool ....I tried to watch his comedy special didn't like that at all
-
Jus finished episodes 3 & 4. It gets better with every episode imo. Im really feelin it. If given a chance, NBC has a hit on its hands.
