Would the movie "The Wood" have worked if it was just focused on the adult stars?

I'm watching the movie now and remembering how much I loved it when it came out. This movie is such an accurate representation of my childhood and I'm sure a lot of you can relate. Do yall think it would've worked if it was just focused on the adult version of Slim Mike and Roland trying to get to the wedding? Personally I think the kids made the movie and they were a lot cooler than the adult versions of themselves lol. This is one of my alltime favorite movies man.

Last time I watched it on Netflix, I fast forwarded through all of the adult scenes and only watched the childhood parts. That ? is hilarious.

Stacey was a funny ass dude. Still throw this movie on once a week. Hilarious and definitely slept on. -

The flashbacks were the best parts about the movie, the kid versions of them had me laughing. This is one of my Top 10 favorite movies. Me and my friends laugh at some of the ? because it happened to us lol. Me and my cousins still use quotes from the movie to this day lol.
