Platoon is my favorite but Saving Private Ryan is the most impactful, imo. The one on one fight between the Jewish soldier and the ? seriously affected me.

Miracle at St. Anna. I watched it due to the black cast and ended up liking it.

That movie was seriously awful. I should have been called Coincidence at St. Anna. There was no damn miracle in that atrocious film. People aren't gonna find that opinion popular on this site, but it was just a bad movie.

I like war films that try to do more than just make an action flick. Even tho there are some war movies that I really liked that are more action flick oriented that the actual effects of war.

Saving Private Ryan - Very powerful film. Nothing else like that opening scene on Omaha Beach. I can't even imagine that there were human beings that brave on earth at one point in time.
Glory - Very Powerful Film. It was about waaaaay more than just combat and war.
Lone Survivor - ? it hurt seeing Tim Riggins get killed.
Deer Hunter - I don't really consider it war flick, be phenomenal movie tho.
We Were Soldiers - Good-ass movie
Band of Brothers - great miniseries, ? was unreal.
Generation ? - Just because of how slept on it is. Really was a great miniseries.

I know the cool thing to say is apocalypse now, but I think platoon has so many quotables and has tons of replay value.

I can watch it whenever it's on tv.

This is my pop's favorite movie. I used to watch it with him all the time growing up. Still holds up as one of the best military flicks of all time. Classic.

The battle of Bastone episode alone >>>> the whole pacific mini series...

Iwo Jima bruh. Pacific had way more action too.

Oh but it is when you think about it....

Shows them fighting the war... but mainly the unromantic side of coming back from the war ..among all the other strife..

Enemy At The Gates. I'm not taking into considering any movies based on science fiction (like Starship Troopers) or Greek/Roman lore (Troy or 3000).

I'm not a big military movie guy but ETAG was like watching a chess game take place, with the the propaganda and manipulation,
