Whether you heard it in a rap, seen it in a movie, or read it in the bible...

What lessons are you teaching or gonna teach your kids??

Three lessons from boys n the hood

1) always look a man in the eye
2) don't be afraid to ask me (daddy) for something..stealing isn't necessary
3) never give respect if you don't get respect

Co-sign everything you said in the original post. Especially #1. It's amazing how many people in general haven't been taught that. Because these days when you look someone dead in the eye, they get MAD uncomfortable.

Never bow your head down for no one

Be careful of the pretty ones who know they pretty, that's usually trouble

Almost every single one of your friends, will be a fair weather friend, don't get caught up in that ride or die for my mans dem ?

    Always help those less fortunate

    Never stop reading

Be your own boss, never let anyone or thing have control over you, this is deeper than the workplace

.....that's just a few, my son is only 5 but I've already started drilling these things into his head

Don't have any specific quotes but black history will be a must. Want my kid(s) to have some pride and self respect before the world gets to em and tries to tell em otherwise

I literally tell my boys, you will be stronger, smarter and overall better than me, period, but you will work to make it evident.

Do what you are SUPPOSED to do and you will get to do a lot of what you WANT to do.

You meet a man, you look him in his eyes and shake his hands firmly.

If/when you don't have money, friends, etc, the ONE thing you will always have is your word and your name. NEVER bring shame on your name or disrespect it. I took care of it before giving it to you and you need to as well. That's what helps you when you have nothing to offer. (This was during a drive from NY to VA).

Make it a rare occurrence that you share something you absolutely can't lose.

Your mind is the strongest muscle you have. That is what steers your whole life.

Some people are afraid to take chances cause it might result in a mistake. Take em. My dad always told me too. Hell I take em all the time and I've never regretted it.

Stand up for what you believe in or for what's right. Even when you're the only one.
    Don't follow the crowds
Always have a back up plan
    I don't care how cute she is...use a condom.
Never sit with your back towards the door.
    Be aware of your surroundings.
If you have to fight...fight but most of the time it's better to walk away.
If the situation doesn't feel right to you, it probably isn't.
If you need me...I will be there (day or night, rain, sleet, hail, snow or apocalypse)
