Gonna be honest, Ive never heard this joint.
-
everything can't be a classic, right?
Stakes is High is a better album and a true classic... -
YeaI voted yes. It doesn't have much playback value now, but when it came out it was the most unique, creative rap album that had ever been recorded up to that date.
It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Three Feet High and Rising and Paul's Boutique set the bar for sampling back when there were no rules or regulations regarding sampling. You didn't have to pay any fees or clear anything, you could sample whatever you wanted. Yeah, there were a few lawsuits here and there but generally speaking everything was up for grabs.
I remember this album came out a few months after Straight Outta Compton. It was one end of the spectrum to the other end. A complete balance. In the end the ? gangsta style won. -
Seen a quote where ppl called it the "Sgt Peppers album of rap"(ive never heard that album either but I know white ppl love it).
-
YeaI expect another clean sweep
-
Nah

With all this evidence, I'm gonna vote that.....yes it is a classic. -
Yea
No it was an era when every rapper had a gold chain and a kangol. De La Soul was the first rap group that looked visually different from everybody else. They tried something new and different. Even if it doesn't have much playback value now, it was groundbreaking at the time. -
YeaIm going to vote yea classic album and group the precursor to Pharcyde, Little Brother Slum Village and others.
3 feet high and rising has aged really well in my opinion -

Kudos for trying something different but that doesn't grant u classic status. That ? isn't timeless, how df is an album with no playback value a classic album? Get these wack ? all the way df outta here. -
YeaFam, I posted all those videos 15 minutes ago......LOL
