It should come as no surprise that the video that surfaced showing a school resource officer violently pulling a black female student out of her classroom chair, should spark outrage around the world. We now know what led up to the incident in the Columbia, South Carolina high school and we are appalled that our children are not safe from attacks by law enforcement officials, even in our nation’s schools.
The school resource officer, Deputy Ben Fields, has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation but reports indicate that he has a history of using excessive force and racial bias. We are heartened to hear that federal authorities will be investigating the incident, but we encourage concerned citizens to send emails to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott ( sheriff@rcsd.net ) or call (803) 576-3000 to voice your concern at the brutality exhibited by Officer Ben Fields against one of our own.

Really? No responses?
You guys are gonna make a 10 page thread about police brutality but nobody is going to call the police department and complain?
If they get enough phone calls and emails something will change. -
I might call ? it
from a flip phone -
Not that serious

I called them. It was a quick 30 second call. I said, "I saw a video on the internet of a police officer beating up a girl in school and I'm very upset". They transferred me to the public relations department and I pretty much repeated the same thing. It took 30 seconds.
If everybody would share the number with your friends on Facebook and get your friends to call maybe something will change. -

So if we call them up and tell them how we feel, they gonna stop ? us up?

Nothing happened really. Had to call a couple times cuz the line was busy. Said I'm calling about the school cop situation and they said the matter is under investigation and it'll come to a close shortly. I thought about calling back but i got the sense a lot of people have called hence the scripted answer -

It's amazing how quick investigations are when they involve cops -

Like 30 mins after i hung up with the lady was when it was announced the cop was fired. So he was probly already fired and they were told from up top what to say until the official announcement -
Ive seen this type of ? done by black school administrators and school security guards. Not going to give a ? all of sudden because it was a white cop. -
The cop has been fired but to my knowledge he hasn't been charged with anything.
We need to call back and suggest that charges be filed for assault and battery.
