What matters in the NBA?

In Summer league, anyone who passes judgement on players are scolded by those who say, "Calm down, it's just SL. A chip isn't on the line and none of the superstars are playing."
In the Pre-season, anyone who passes judgement on teams are told, "Calm down, it's just PS. A chip isn't on the line and the superstars have been resting all summer."
During the regular season, especially at the beginning, anyone who passes judgement on teams and players are told, "Calm down, a chip isn't on the line and it's too early to tell what will happen."
Playoffs? Depending on the teams playing, it's "Calm down, it's just the 1st/2nd round. Wait till (insert one media favorite team) plays (insert another media favorite team). A chip isn't on the line yet."
And then the finals come and go and people come up with these 'asterisks' about injuries and team matchups that didn't happen and supposed pivotal moments that change the entire series and they go "... But it only happened because of what happened in the playoffs/regular season."
So what part of the season truly does, or does not, matter?

2nd half and playoffs/finals matter. All that ? folks saying about teams in the finals are just folks looking for an excuse to slight ppl. Having that ring and trophy matters

The Lakers... that's all that matters.

every game matters
playoff seating is usually decided by single digit games -
health & 4th qtrs of playoff games matters

For a real fan of the NBA, like stated above all of it matters.
New players and teams build chemistry during Summer League, Preseason and early regular season games. So if your team has a new star player or coach and is trying to implement the new player or a new style of play all of those early games matter to get the familiarity with each other.
As far as the league as a whole in the whole regular season matters in the West due to playoff seeding. You have to bring it every night and try and win as much as you can to even get in the playoffs in the west and favorable style match-ups are a real thing in any sport so winning as much as you can, might help dictate who you play in what round. -
The only thing that matters is: Do you have multiple ways/players that can/will score in the playoffs
If not then you're ? -
What kinda my first NBA game question is this
Trends, chunks of games matter. How you consistently perform at end of games, putting together home win streaks, matchups vs certain players/player types, etc -
What matters in the NBA?
having Lebron on your team.

What matters is everything after the trade deadline.
Before the trade deadline a wack team can acquire LeBron James in the middle of the season.
