The season’s sneak peek reveals that newly platinum blonde Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) did in fact accept her season four job offer to work in Japan, and Hannah’s (previously teased) new relationship with Fran (Jake Lacy) is still intact. The most dramatic season five glimpse, however, was a visibly apprehensive Marnie (Allison Williams) appearing obnoxiously made-up in a wedding gown, confirming a potential wedding in the show’s upcoming season.
“The very least you could do right now is to pretend that I might be doing the right thing,” Marnie says over footage of her dressing for her wedding day.
Dunham, who’s also the creator and director of “Girls,” told Variety in April that the show may conclude after season six, adding that she “think America has a tendency to push shows past their due dates.” She also revealed to radio show “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” earlier this fall that, although an end date is not set in stone, the crew is beginning to “think about how to wrap up the storylines of these particular young women.”
