http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-chicago-shooting-violence-20151223-story.htmlTo men were killed, and four other people, including a prominent Chicago rapper known as King Louie, were wounded Wednesday in separate shootings in Chicago, police said.
In the Austin neighborhood, a man was shot to death in a home in the 1000 block of North Lamon Avenue about 6:17 p.m., said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman. The man, age 39, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police News Affairs did not immediately have any detailed information on the circumstances of the shooting, but Sweeney said no one was in custody.
Less than a half-mile away from the evening killing, a 33-year-old man was shot to death about 1:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Leclaire Avenue, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
A man and a 55-year-old woman were both wounded in the shooting. The woman told officers a gunman approached, shot the man and then fled the scene on foot, Trainor said.
The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken in grave condition to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. He was identified as Christopher Ruffin, of the 22700 block of Bridgeway in south suburban Richton Park, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The woman, who suffered a wound to her index finger, drove herself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. The woman told police she was struck by a bullet fragment, Trainor said.
Rapper King Louie shot in the head

About 3:30 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the 3900 block of West 83rd Street in the Ashburn neighborhood, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman. The victim was rapper King L, formerly known as King Louie, whose real name is Louis Johnson, according to a law enforcement source with knowledge of the shooting.
Johnson, who grew up on the Southeast Side, is often credited with coining the term Chiraq and has for the better part of a decade been a prominent part of the drill rap sound. Successful in his own right, Johnson made a cameo appearance on Kanye West’s sixth album, “Yeezus.”
Among those expressing hope for Johnson's recovery Wednesday evening was Chance the Rapper, who Tweeted that "I believe in the power of prayer and I believe my brother Louie gone be ok. Send prayers to him in his battle."
The victim was in a vehicle when someone came up to him and shot him in the left side of the head, police sources said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, Sweeney said.
The man was alert and talking following the shooting, according to a law enforcement official.
About 2:40 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood, Sweeney said.
The man told officers he was standing in the 100 block of South Homan Avenue, when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots in his direction. The man was struck in the leg, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition was stabilized, Sweeney said.
Earlier Wednesday, a 42-year-old man was shot in a drive-by in the city's Gresham neighborhood.
That shooting happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 8600 block of South Morgan Street, said Trainor.
The man told officers he was standing outside when he was shot by someone in a passing vehicle, Trainor said. He suffered a neck wound. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, she said.
Police were investigating.
