Reports in Japanese say that the creature was filmed on December 24, seen by an underwater camera swimming near boat moorings. It was reportedly about 13 feet long and 3 feet around. Some on Twitter have suggested that the species may be Architeuthis, a deep-ocean dwelling creature that can grow up to 43 feet. Here’s some more fascinating and insane footage of the species

It's fascinating what things are in the ocean and the idea that there may be much more we haven't even discovered yet

I seen them white folks on discovery channel go 2,000 ft under in a submarine just too see one in the dark and they cried tears like it was never before seen. But the ? playing with one up close like it's no big deal.

No amount of butter, lemon and cracked pepper will have that taste like anything other than the bottom of the ocean.
It's actually worse than that. Squid have ammonia in them. In the squid that are typically used for calimari, the ammonia is in such a small amount it has no effect on anything. For huge squid like that one, it would basically be enough to make you sick.
