I understand that it might be a necessary evil in order to prevent certain crimes like terrorism etc. but it is a cost, it's psychologically crippling for some people to have to live their lives knowing they're under 24/7 surveillance. -
Don't be naive. You are under surveillance at all times by several different methods. Facebook, IC, street corner...it's all recorded and filed away for future use.

The level of surveillance being done today is not necessary to stop any crimes, especially terrorism. I think it's more so a tool for those with power to maintain control. There are corporations who have nothing to do with stopping crime that can spy on you however they please. -
one of my cousins posted something on facebook that offended people and some cop called his phone.his ? had his phone number on his FB page.the feds have a right to keep an eye on you
-

Word
Most people saying the Feds watching them like their phone number, email address, job address ,home photos, hangout spots photos, close family and friends pictures are not conveniently sitting there on a public profile, the Feds don't gotta even come look for you no more, and now most people's post includes their location -

If you didn't suspect or believe that you were under surveillance, and it didn't indirectly affect your psychological well-being in any way, then I wouldn't consider it to be a problem. Still, I think there are practical conseuquentialist reasons to support pro-privacy laws, not to mention property rights. -
