I bet the radio was still on in both cars after the crash.

Wow....i expected the exact opposite.

So the current technology protects us better.
That 59 got demolished, got dayum. -
I'm still waiting on them to come back out with that big body Impala from the 90's. Gas is going back down, you know they could do it.

Only thing special about that Impala was the tail lights. '62-65 impalas goat

94-96 Impala SS are classics..still hold value pretty well too -
For real, I was going to try to find a good used one until I saw that they were going for over 10, and even 20. Like, ? , I might as well get a new one with little or no miles on it lol. -
Word?!! Chevy malibus a tank now

That 59 folded up like a Saturn.
Perhaps its all the space in the engine bay?
Exactly what I was thinking. Those old school chevys, cars and trucks, had enough room for 2 engines in joints. -

I think they do just that newer cars have crumple zones to protect passengers. -
Damn you mangled in that 59... Crazy, but I guess even though the material is not as strong, they design today's cars for safety... Lawsuits are a ?

Actually....
I've never worked on automobiles, but I'm guessing the metal is 16 to 20 gauge steel. That ? folds easy enough with a hammer, a hot tack, or some clamps. You can seriously risk warping metal that thin very easily with simple fabrication. So the car crash damage should be as devastating as the video shows.
So thin steel is not as strong as thick steel, basically. The old school crumpling up is not that surprising from my experience. -
