TNT Orders Artificial Intelligence Pilot From Luc Besson

TNT is looking to ace the Turing test. The cable network has given a put pilot commitment to Artificial Intelligence, a sci-fi show from French genre auteur Luc Besson and screenwriter Bill Wheeler.
Besson (The Fifth Element, Lucy) and Wheeler (Queen of Katwe, Ghost in the Shell) are writing and executive producing the project, which marks Besson’s first time penning TV for the U.S. market. He is considering directing the pilot as well, which would be another first for him.
True to its title, the show centers on an artificial intelligence that escapes from a laboratory and begins carrying out its own mysterious agenda, prompting the AI’s creator to assemble a team of specialists to deal with the situation.
Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne, and Thomas Anargyros are also on board as executive producers. TNT’s put pilot order means the network would face a stiff penalty if the pilot doesn’t air.
