I would've said Godfather Pat.Russell won rings as a coach with some of the same players Red was coaching
But he also won rings with Bird and the 80s squad....as an exec (tho he put that front line together.) -

Riley won rings in the 80's too, beating Red and his front line. He also put together the Big 3. Red was dominating when there was only 9 other teams to compete against. If it's a 10 team league and you got Bill Russell and Bob Cousey you are gonna dominate. Back then they only had two rounds in the playoffs before the finals also. Red is a bball ? but he dominated in a era that imo was the easiest to dominate in. I always say the same thing about them old ass baseball dudes like Babe Ruth too. If he is facing the same pitchers 10 times a month, he is gonna dominate.
