NYC vs ATL

I know a lot of NYC and ATL peeps are here so I have a question.

My girl lives in Park Slope (Brooklyn) and I live in ATL. We're thinking of marriage but undecided where to settle at the moment.

She seems to prefer NY over ATL but I guess mainly because her family is there and in ATL it would be just the two of us as i'm not originally from here.

She's telling me its nice in Long Island and wants me to check it out (thinks i'd be surprised) instead of her moving to ATL.

For some of you who know both areas very well. What do you think? Would u prefer ATL or NYC (long island)? Likes vs dislikes for both places?

ATL, NYC prices are getting too ridiculous especially if you own a car, just ain't worth it.

ATL is really cheap compared to NY. Evem Bronx, Harlem, and especially BK are mad expensive now. I have heard Long Island is nice, my homegirl lives there and she likes it, I also have another good friend who lives on Staten Island which is a little more reasonable. I love both cities and would live in either one honestly, but I prefer NYC. No other place in the world like it.

Na, Manhattan is the most expensive. Certain parts of LI are actually the cheapest parts in NY with the exception of upstate NY.

I've lived in DC ATL and NY I would recommend DC as a middle ground, it is like 1% less expensive than NY, but very nice social scene and still has a decent job market, but thats just stupid cause neither of yall have attachments there.

    IMO
    NY Pros
    -Its NY
-its in the north east biz corridor
    -city life to the fullest
    -always somethin to do
    -she has fam there

    NY Cons
    -its Ny
    -it snows
    -traffic
    -its expensive
    -she has fam there

    ATL Pros
-Nice weather, it gets hot as hell, but not too cold to often
-beautiful women, yes there are a lot of homos, but they dont attack ppl
    -slower living
    -traffic is not as bad
    -much cheaper
-lot of natural beauty to take in
-a lot of things to do in and around town
    -you know your area

    ATL Cons
    -jobs are tight
-lotta good looking women (ur married ? )
    -it can get boring
    -it can get racist
    -mosquitoes

    I'd say stick with ATL.

There is a lot to do, but it still can get boring. I think it has an average night scene. GA has a lot of parks and tourist ? , more so than clubs, (o yea add strip clubs to Pros), but if your not in the mood to be outdoorsy your SOL and if your not in town, it might be a bit of a drive to get to things.

LOL @ her fam being a pro and con for NY. I was thinking the same thing though.

Jobs are tight down here and the heat is debilitating at times.

NY is too damn expensive though. If not i'd definitely go there. She does not want to leave her brownstone but may have to if we do this. I can't go up there and get broke off by the cost of living up there.

Thanks for all of the replies and input! Right now ATL is winning out.
