Russo Brothers Adapting The Warriors for TV Series

Anthony and Joe Russo have directed two blockbuster Marvel superhero films, and now the brothers are shifting their focus from the big screen to digital streaming with an upcoming adaptation of the classic gang film The Warriors, EW can confirm.
While the project currently has no cast or director, the Russos are working with writer Frank Baldwin, Paramount TV, and Hulu on the one-hour drama series, which will be based on Walter Hill’s 1979 movie of the same name. Deadline first broke the news Tuesday morning.
Hill’s cult classic is itself an adaptation of the late Sol Yurick’s popular 1965 novel. The 1979 version of The Warriors focuses on the bitter rivalry between a slew of New York City gangs, intensified when one group, the Warriors, is framed for killing another clan’s leader, leading to a violent struggle to reclaim their stomping grounds. Michael Beck, James Remar, and Dorsey Wright star, while Lynne Thigpen and Mercedes Ruehl have small roles.
The Russo brothers have found success as film directors on Marvel hits like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and its sequel, Captain America: Civil War, which grossed $259.8 million and $405.6 million at the domestic box office, respectively. They’re currently attached to direct the upcoming Marvel films Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Part II. Previously, the duo helmed the Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson comedy You, Me, and Dupree in 2006, preceded by Welcome to Collinwood in 2002.

Agree. It's the one movie that should be left alone. Even when they were talking about doing a remake I wasn't really feeling it too much. -

I actually liked the idea they were pushing with the remake. I was of course hesitant about it coming out good, but a modern version of The Warriors wasn't a bad idea. -
Now I'm game if they if they use some ideas from the comic book that came out a couple of years ago.
