Axelrod: Would Have Been a ‘Healing Moment’ If Dems Featured Widows of Murdered Cops Too

David Axelrod said that it was good to hear the mothers of victims of gun/police violence speaking tonight, but they should have heard from widows of slain cops too.

The mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, and others appeared on stage together at the DNC to speak about fighting to stop the bleeding and about their support for Hillary Clinton.

On CNN, Michael Smerconish said the Democrats should have featured at least one widow of a fallen officer.

Axelrod agreed, calling it a “missed opportunity.”

“The families of police officers grieve for their losses as well,” he said, “and it would have been a healing moment to get everyone on the same stage to say stop the violence.”

This are type of advisers President Barry use to/has surrounded himself with…

Its 50/50 on some level he is not lying , they are also grieving mothers.

Sandra Black's mom and Trayvon's mom , also mentioned the cops and said most cops are good cops.

Either these "good cops" should take a stand against the bad apples in a public show of numbers, or these good cops will continue to get their heads blown off for the sins of their bad cop counterparts.

No disrespect to those mothers at all. We all deal with the loss of life differently than others and view things from different perspectives. With that said.

I would hope that my mother would NEVER do that if I happened to die like one of these ladies children.

    Their murderers are arrested.

And if cop mothers were on stage by themselves would he say “black mothers should be up their to help the healing"???

Inquirer editorial: Opportunity missed to say all lives matter

The Democratic National Convention missed an opportunity to present a powerful, unifying image when it didn't put family members of slain police officers on stage with the mothers of those killed by officers. That would not have diminished the message that racial bias exists in policing, just as it does in other aspects of American life, and that people have died as a result.

Nine "Mothers of the Movement" were introduced at the convention Tuesday night, including Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner, who was strangled by a police officer in Staten Island, N.Y.; Maria Hamilton, mother of Dontre Hamilton, who was shot 14 times by Milwaukee police; and Lesley McSpadden, mother of Michael Brown, who was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Mo.

There should be no disagreement that all lives matter, but it's difficult to get that message across amid confrontations that leave people angry and less willing to listen. A chance was missed at the Democratic convention to move the conversation forward, but there will be others.

No, the healing would be to see some of these police not get off for killing us.

    This ? is hilarious.

What healing moment? An unarmed black man will probably be killed this weekend.

This isnt how healing moments work.

There is an injustice. You ? people from group A, people from group A ? your people. Eventually you come to a conclusion, stop fighting, and make changes, AND then you start having healing moments.

Aint ? changed yet though. Blakcs are gonna still get killed and get no justice. So what type of healing moment was at all possible here?

Good cops have. They become ostracized, and eventually fired. I can link up like at least 3 off the top of my head where this has happened, and thats white cops snitching on white cops. Id have to go into my bookmarks for more.

Dont you get it. They dont publicize this ? . They publicize one narrative that leads further to our divide, and they know that the large voices within entertainment are too high, or too right to say anything sensible. So they just influence the public for the worst.

We as a country of human beings have been divided and conquered for a while now. Its just continuing, and "they" love it. It makes the whole Sumerian creation of humans as slaves thing make much more sense. We clearly enjoy subjugation.

That whole alabama scandal of over a decade of racist cops planting drugs and guns was originally snitched on by a couple of white cops, and nothing was done until hopefully now (doubt it).

Just because you missed the story, doesnt mean it doesnt exist. The problem is the feds not doing enough about this corruption. The DOJ is ? deep in freddie gray and michael brown, but no this ? that went down in alabama, where some of them were actually promoted to higher ranking positions too.

? lining up to clap their hands for obama and hillary. Meanwhile, what the ? has obama done about the war on drugs, the prison industrial complex, slave labor in prisons, and police reform to get some type of unifying training and rules to this ? in america.

OBAMA DID ZERO, AND HILLARY WILL DO THE SAME.

Funny thing is, as i posted in another thread. Outside of michael brown, only sandra bland i think had an interaction with a cop, although she killed herself in jail, and the cop got fired and found guilty of perjury. The others were killed by civilians. Some didnt even walk. The 14 year old chicago girl was killed by black gang bangers.

To be honest, that whole DNC speech of mothers was a manipulation. Notice how they didnt put up any black mothers who had people legit murdered by the police.

    Get woke people.

Obama can't make the judges and juries convict somebody. These cops got serious Lawyer and PR money. The prosecutor in the Freddy Gray case may actually be sued just for trialing those cops.

Thats besides the point. Obama wasnt even gonna say anything, but joe biden comes out and drags obama into legalizing ? marriage, and guess wtf happened next. ? all across america got the SCOTUS to legalize their union. GREAT

Now, what would have happened if obama came out to decriminalize at the very least marijuana. What would have happened if obama at the very least said, we have to do something about sending non violent criminals of varying sorts into prison and ? them over for life essentially. What if obama said, why the ? are people getting paid cents on the dollar in american prisons to work in prison call centers when those jobs can be done by people not in prison for non slave wages.

He has done nothing! His 300+ things he has done in office have barely any meaning to us regular people. Well he did the ACA which was a ? band-aid for a larger issue. Thanks obama, for penalizing poor people for not getting ? health coverage, while medical cost is still astronomically high, and you havent SO MUCH AS ? PEEPED ABOUT MEDICAL COST.

Nah bruh. ? obama. People too easily manipulated. Its how tyrants have come to easily rise. Not saying obama is a tyrant. He just a regular schlub, not willing to die to make this country better. Just playing the game. Hes the ? in the hood who is everyones friend, and magically never has any enemies. Playing everyone.

They should have put mothers of children killed by cancer up there to. They missed an opportunity for healing for that as well. And also the mothers of children killed by ? drivers..that's a shame as well.

And now that I think about it I was disappointed that they didn't have the mothers of children killed in plane crashes up there. Nobody ever talks about that. And mothers of children killed while eating hot dogs (the food that causes the most casualties annually). The whole segment was a missed opportunity.

Convention hears from families of slain police officers

The mother of a slain Philadelphia police officer and loved ones of two other fallen officers addressed the Democratic convention Thursday, calling for unity at a time of heightened tensions between law enforcement and civilians.

Wayne Walker, whose police officer son was killed in 2012, said: “We have to believe that we’re stronger together.”

Don't miss the buzz around town: Get our special DNC newsletter, delivered daily during the convention.

That tension was underscored this week by the Philadelphia police union's rebuke of the Clinton campaign for not initially scheduling speaking time for fallen officers' families - and by words heard in the Wells Fargo Center during a moment of silence just before they spoke.

In that silence, a few people shouted, "Black Lives Matter!"

Moses Walker, a 19-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, was fatally shot on his way home from work in 2012. On Thursday night his mother recalled her son's loving spirit.

"Moses didn't live long enough to give all of the gifts he had to give," Wayne Walker told the thousands of delegates. "While we're here, we must do the good we can. Absolutely we have to believe that we're stronger together."

Walker's killer, Rafael Jones, was convicted of first-degree murder and other offenses and sentenced to life in prison without parole last year. He and an accomplice robbed Walker, 40, as the officer walked to a bus stop in North Philadelphia.

The accomplice pleaded guilty and testified against Jones in exchange for a lighter sentence.

Wayne Walker addressed the convention a week after the city police union said Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton should be "ashamed" for inviting family members of those killed by the police to speak without also inviting loved ones of fallen officers.

On Tuesday, following chants of "Black Lives Matter," black mothers addressed the convention, recalling their children who were killed by police or were victims of other gun violence.

John McNesby, president of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, praised the decision by the Clinton campaign and convention organizers to add family members of fallen officers to the speaking lineup.

"We want fairness to both sides," McNesby said. "It seemed like we got the door slammed in our faces. I guess they listened, had a change of thought, change of heart."

Asked if he stood by his criticism of Clinton, he said: "Had the FOP not stepped up and said anything, there would absolutely be no survivors on that stage tonight."

The convention committee and the Clinton campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

Jennifer Loudon, widow of fallen Chicago police officer Thor Soderberg, said: "I know that in light of recent events, some of us have lost faith."

To applause, she said she wanted Americans to know of "all the officers out there who every day risk their lives protecting all of us."

As usual whitey got its way...
