This song just came on shuffle and Jay Elect blazed that track. IMO at best they're even, but I'm partial to Jay E's lyrics, flow, and delivery.

3 years later (damn, time flies) who yall got?

Let's not forgot what actually makes the verse unique. As someone in the new generation he called people out by name... Not to battle, but to put people in notice that he is pushing to be a GOAT. Meaning he wants to be put in a category ABOVE his peers.

heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time
Bout who's the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas
Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of y'all
    New ? just new ? , don't get involved
And I ain't rockin no more designer ?
White T's and Nike Cortez, this is red Corvettes anonymous
I'm usually homeboys with the same ? I'm rhymin' wit
But this is hip hop and them ? should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron', Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you ?
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you ?
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you ?

I love what Kendricks verse stood for, inserting some competition into the game. Doesn't make it the better verse though.

What Kendrick did is what made Tupac as big as he was(not by any means am I comparing the 2). His verse more impactful than it was just about "bars", while also rhyming nshit.

Jay Electronica quite clearly had the best verse. Then and now.

Hype verse from K. though except that long AF simile at the end kinda took a lil shine off it

Kendricks verse was more impactful. But when I listen to Control I'm tempted to skip past Kendrick's verse to get to Jay Elects because his is iller.

Kendricks verse is all hype. Take away him name droppin and you get your standard Kendrick verse. It don't mean it wasn't dope, it's just not as amazing as folks make it out to be.

You kno' what I said the exact same ? to my guy when he asked me why I don't think J Cole is dope

Why would a few years gone by change the fact KDot smacked Sean, Jay Elects and basically the whole industry around in one verse?

    Answer to t/s Pretty much.

    Dated. Not timeless.

Dope all the way thru but corny now that dust settles cuz ain't ? come from it. Everything since this moment has been dope from KDot & I believe he's been elevating his game prior to this moment.

Def makes hiphop history but it ain't <insert groundbreaking ? here>

Sean/Jay deliver but the KDot stands out the most for obvious reasons.
