Fresh off the release of the first official poster for the latest X-Men franchise film from director James Mangold (The Wolverine) that is Logan, longtime fans of actor Hugh Jackman’s take on the eponymous anti-hero have even more to look forward to. In addition to finally learning the official title of what could very well be Jackman’s final turn as the seminal Marvel Comics superhero, those in the know have been teased with what is meant to be a “very different” take on Weapon X.

In what will be the first R-rated adventure within the X-Men feature franchise, Mangold and Jackman are all set to deliver a thrilling Western-style adventure drawing loosely from the Old Man Logan comic book story originally written by Mark Millar. On that note, potential plot and character details from Logan have just been released online.

According to The Wrap, Logan will feature a much older and significantly crippled Wolverine living out his last days in 2024, and forced to get by in spite of his failing health and diminishing regenerative abilities. Logan is in charge of mentoring a small girl possessed of her own pair of claws – only she possesses two blades on each hand instead of three – and a comparably aged Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) whose mind has begun to deteriorate, aided by the albino mutant Caliban (Stephen Merchant). It’s also been revealed that those born with mutant abilities in 2024 are on the decline, and that an organization called Transigen is taking young mutants and turning them into killing machines.

hugh jackman promises very different wolverine 3 Logan: Wolverine 3 Potential Plot & Character Details Revealed
Based on information that was previously revealed, the young girl that Wolverine is the ipso facto guardian of might be none other than Laura Kinney/X-23 – who additionally may or may not become the new Wolverine following the events of Logan. Furthermore, the fact that Professor X is just as incapacitated as Wolverine should result in a film that will explore new territory for fans of the X-Men franchise – and the addition of Caliban will no doubt pique the interest of comic book aficionados.

Only time will tell how capably Mangold, Jackman, and company manage in bringing what is a fairly ambitious story to life in Logan. Until the film finally sees theatrical release in March 2017, here’s to hoping that Jackman’s potential final turn as Wolverine will rank among his very best appearences in the X-Men movie franchise thus far.

PG-13 or R, you still have to make a good movie. There's a tone that's already been set in prior movies and an R rating just means same tone with more curse words.

Man.... Why old man logan and not Patch?

Patch is a far better anthology.

Patch was created before his weapon x vacation from hell so it be pointless now especially with High hanging it up. X-23 will be getting the keys until a new actpr is cast.

Didnt days of furture past have a pre weapon x logan?

    So its doable.

The wolverine should have been Patch's story.

Man the xmen timeline is beyond screwed up in this fox universe and how the hell does Sinister appear in a Wolverine movie before an Xmen one with Scott an Jean? I'm sure if they felt like it Patch could be thrown in anyway lol.

I'd check it out. About the comics though...is there somewhere online where a person can read them without paying? That would be nice...

    Deadpool?

Which was also the first "R-rated adventure within the X-Men feature franchise" which this article is incorrectly crediting Logan to be.
