OC and AG had the best album, stop it
? I totally forgot about that album. I gotta get that again that was fire -
Ya'll probably don't remember Part 1 when it came out. That was the hottest album from the hottest group at the time.
Can't say the same for part 2
not claiming it was the hottest album from the hottest group at the time, or that it's Raekwon's best work, or that it's a classic (last one, i suppose, comes down to how many classics we think are out there). but was it a great album? hell yes.
OB4CL2 sounded professional but it just didn't have that magic that the first one had.

Yes Rae's album cover is very similar to Sean P's, but that doesn't make him a biter. He probably decided to pay homage to the late rapper by using the same theme. I like how Raekwon's cover gives a more in depth perspective on where he comes from. Dan Lish did an incrediable job capturing the essence of the hood; no shade! I just hope the music is equivalent to the artwork that's displayed.

Which one? Dre did two tracks there. "Catalina" and "About Me" -

Some don't. I was bumping the purple tape (The actual tape) in the summer of 95. I was 17 then. EVERYONE in my hood had a copy of the tape. That was one of the best hip-hop moments ever. -
I lked OB4CL2 better than the fisrt one but I also like Damian Marley over Bobby Marley.
-
Here's how I see it.
Circa 94/95 Nas and Wu Tang came out with a new style of rapping. It was faster and more abstract. They fit more words per bar and used excessive slang, to the point where, if you didn't know the slang you couldn't understand what they were saying.
Nas talked about this on Last Real ? Alive.
You might not remember but Biggie switched his style up between Ready To Die and Life After Death. In the summer of 1995 Big released the One More Chance (Remix) which wasn't on Ready To Die. He used the style that Nas, Rae and Ghost were using. That fast flow with lots of slang. OB4CL came out the same summer as the One More Chance (Remix). That was a new style of rapping.
I can specifically remember cats on the West Coast saying that they couldn't follow what New York Rappers were saying.
While OB4CL2 was a good album, it wasn't a new style of rapping. So it didn't have the same shock value that the first one had. The first OB4CL had shock value because you'd never heard anybody rap like that (except maybe Illmatic and some of Rakim's earlier work).
Anyway, OB4CL2 was good but it didn't shake up the rap industry like the first one.
Listen to Raekwon's verse on Rainy Days, he goes in @ 2:52

? I had the OB4CL1 cassette -
Yo ya noticed this ? Rae used the same drum break on 2 different songs on the same album? Kinda crazy
-
At first listen......dope album. Few slight missteps but still good.
-
Yo, I didn't know this existed. It should have been on the album.

Listened to the whole thing. It's not as good as CL 1 or 2. I'd put it on par with SvW, but it's probably Rae's most versatile album. He hasn't ever made a song like Marvin before. Pretty dope. -
Bump because i just found out it dropped.
#AllAlbumsMatter
Expectations low tho... Will listen this weekend -
This album is dope as hell. Probably better than shoalin Vs wu tang.
-
Shaolin vs Wu was fire i hope yall are telling the truth. About to listen.
