“Daria” Creator Reveals Characters 20 Years Later
Daria now writes for a talk show, Trent and Jane are still aspiring artists
Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis’ cult television series “Daria” first aired on MTV in 1997, running for a total of five seasons before it ended in 2002. Now, Lewis and original character designer Karen Disher have come together to imagine the show’s characters in 2017 for Entertainment Weekly, two decades after the show originally began. Daria has moved from Lawndale to New York City, trading in her signature green trench coat for a similarly-colored sweater. According to a blurb, she is now canonically “the only female writer on a late-night talk show” and lives alone. Childhood friends Trent and Jane Lane are still aspiring artists, while Brittany and Kevin Thompson (predictably) ended up married. Check out the full photo gallery here and find a video breaking down the characters’ modern lives below.
It’s been 20 years since the debut of #MTV’? #Daria, but the sardonic heroine and her crew still feel totally relevant today!

That is correct.
It's actually ? to watch it now cuz it used to have a bunch of good, random music in it due to it being on MTV. But like 80% of the music got removed on the DVDs, amazon and wherever else cuz they didn't own the rights to it. If you didn't grow up watching it you wouldn't notice it, but I can't watch that ? now cuz it's a completely different show to me. -
Hated Beavis & Butthead
And hated when my sisters would watch this show -
if beavis and butthead didnt play the rock videos, that couldve been one of the goats
i would be weak af when they played rap videos tho lol -

The best commentary was always during the rock videos. Especially the metal ones. -

It's still a great show if you watched it now, but you're right in that all the music got removed from it which is ? and helped make it what it was/is.
I'd love for then to do a one-off episode with everyone 20 years later. I'm sure the show would have plenty to say about society today. -

Agreed.Daria was dope too. MTV never gives shows a chance. They get one season then they're gone. Undergrads was another dope MTV show -
