Just started listening to this today.
Never been a big Jay fan so take this with a grain of salt. But this is the most complete album I've heard in a long time. Maybe ever. And this coming from a guy with the King Fu Kenny avy
There is no fat or filler. No skips, been on repeat all day in the background -

C/S...LIKE ON THE TITLE TRACK...
I WAS WAITING HIM TO SAY SOMETHING OR FLOW...
? IS THE MOST RELUCTANT SONG OF ALL TIME...

The lyrics aren't wack, he just don't know how to rap over this beat....I like the message -
I look at the Jay/Sprint/Samsung deals like this...
I can only assume Jay is for the culture (of course he's a business man and looking out for his best interest but let's set that aside for a second) So...with that, I think he's smart/aware enough to know that bootleggin heavily affects everything. So he found a workaround (as others have stated)
...BUT...
What if it wasn't SOLELY for his benefit? Most of us would robably say "highly unlikely" given Jay's ego/arrogance, but given a large portion of the content on this album, as well as some previous bars from years past, I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere in his mind was the thought process of...
"Hey... I'ma do you ? a favor...seein as y'all don't like payin for music and ? ... I'ma get this big corporation (aka white muthafuckas) to buy a shitload of my albums.........and GIVE them to y'all for FREE... Therefore...I go plat...and y'all still ain't gotta pay for the ? ... Wins for both of us."
Like that ? even puttin double entendres in his business deals too! LOL!
I mean think about it... You think Sprint or Samsung couldn't have found a way to charge ? for them albums that they bought?
Not sure of the particulars on how the Samsung ? worked but the Sprint ? literally gave them away for free by just goin to Tidal and typin in "Sprint"...and you didn't even have to be a Sprint customer. Granted they catch they money on the back-end with customers and whatnot...but since when are corporations not greedy? I mean, I wouldn't have been surprised if either had tacked a price on it to recoup even more money up front. So the "free give away" had to be part of the deal somewhere...
In the end I'm not complainin... We got some good hip hop out the ? and the content I personally been waitin to hear out of Jay(one of my biggest critiques of him through the years)... I was never on that "Men lie, women lie, numbers don't" ? he was spewin. I always said "Men lie, women lie, and numbers can be manipulated"...and he ain't doin ? but provin me right... He playin the game... No different than when artists used to throw out CDs at they shows. You think them free joints wasn't accounted for??? Shiiiit...
I ain't mad at it... How can I be? I got the album for free. -

I wouldn't be mad at this but they need to adjust the price of albums if that's the case. I didn't buy Bruno's 24k Magic album cause it was $13-14 for a 9 track album
the price isn't an issue to me because i only buy albums a few times a year max. I will be buying 4:44 and last year i bought coles joint. Everything else i get 9.99 via i tunes like damn from kendrick or just stream only via apple music.
Bruno make a 9 track album but for fans of that genre it's worth the 13 bucks physical or 9.99 digitally.
I might be wrong, but I've always heard that artists traditionally get paid by labels based on 12 track albums anyway. Before cds, few albums were more than 12 tracks. -
Saw it come up today on my google music...? makes me wanna light up cigar and pour some cognac.
I had whatever expectations (didn't enter the thread until today) ? fire -
Lol at jay promoting the album in North Korea

Assume a virtue if you have not
Or better yet here's a verse from Hamlet
"Lord, we know who we are
Yet we know not what we may be" -
Jigga flow was ill on marcy me

That OJ Story video is tight. I aint still aint a fan of the beats, but i love the message.
So I guess thats the line that got ? in they feelings, but the man aint said nothing wrong. Dude just casually gave some good advice, aint even name names.
Im thinking folks like Boosie low key know they out here wreckless and guilt is kicking in, so they lash out. ? need to get they egoes out the way. -

Every single event that I've been to since the 4th of July has been bumpin this album. Damn near every whip is bangin 'Family Affair'.
Jigga took over the summer! -
This album reminds me of when Jay said if he could, he rap like Kweli and/or common if the dollars and cents. He is there now- mature rap. The theme of a few songs reminds me of the Life is Good/untitled feel.
-
Thinking this might be a top 3 album for Jay. Definitely in his top 5.

Jay finally grew up on this album. Finally made music the common man can relate too. That bragadocious ? can only get you so far. I think he also took a page from TPAB when he was brainstorming his beat selection.
