Doug Williams won a Superbowl
Correction: he won ONE GAME, which was the Super Bowl. He didn't lead the Skins there that year, or really did anything after.
Guys like McNabb, McNair, and Moon were franchise-changing QBs. -
Naw cuz sone guys get better opportunitues than others... talent and career wise moon is the best black qb eva. He arguably was top 5 when he retired. Check his numbers. -
He was the Bucs franchise QB when they first started. Led them to an NFC title game. That was only for a few years, not enough longevity to be high on the list. -
Deshone Kizer a.k.a. Jew-Fro

So Doug Williams>>>Dan Marino?
Well Dan Marino isn't a Black quarterback so its a moot point.
The fact remains that Doug Williams won a Super Bowl and the other people listed didn't
Do you know why he only won that game? Because after he won the Superbowl he tried to renegotiate his contract. He wanted to get what a Superbowl winning quarterback deserves. They low balled him so he refused to play the following year. He was technically still on the team but played zero minutes.
I feel like he did the right thing. He wasn't on the level of Joe Montana, but I don't think he was asking for what Joe Montana was making, He just wanted to make what other starting quarterbacks were making. They wouldn't pay him so he said, "? ya'll".
The #1 Black quarterback is the QB that has a ring. Statistics are irrelevant.
Who would you choose, a QB with great statistics that you know won't win a Superbowl, or a QB with average statistics that you know will win a Superbowl? -

Just winning a Super Bowl doesn’t make you a great QB, right place right time.
Come on now, I’m a Redskins fan and I wouldn’t put Williams up there like that. He was so-so that year but was only good coming off the bench. When he got his act together as a starter he finally replaced Jay Schroeder for the playoffs.
After that Super Bowl Williams played pretty average kept getting hurt. It wasn’t the Redskins who low balled him it was Tampa back in the day. That’s why he left for the USFL. Mark Rippin took over as starter in ‘89 and Williams was done.
Williams will always be a great as far as what he did for the race, but there’s far better QBs before and since then. ? , Warren Moon is in the Hall of Fame and was better for way longer. Williams had his moment in the sun but it was just a moment. -

No argument out of me. I personally have moon top 3. Just not sure how to rank him against someone like Mcnabb who had a better overall team -

So you'd take a QB that didn't win a Superbowl over a QB that did win a Superbowl?
Think about what you're saying.
The most important thing in football is winning the Superbowl. I don't care if your record is 9-7 and you made it to the playoffs as a wildcard team, if you win the Superbowl you're the best team. At least you're the best team that year. -
"@5 Grand" u buggin
Football is a team sport and is very situational. If I'm starting a franchise I 100% take Marino over Williams. -
Winning the Super Bowl doesn’t historically make you a great QB. Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and so many others have won but more because of the team around them. They didn’t have the stats, clutch performances or longevity to be considered greats individually.
All time greats like Marino, Dan Fouts & Warren Moon are light years ahead of Williams and others. They just didn’t have the D or didn’t have the breaks to win it all.
Taking Doug Williams overall just because he won a Super Bowl over Marino puts your football common sense on notice.
