Def wasn’t feeling this sad ass mediocre ass album lol. This was the start of his fall from grace imo -
I seen this the other day. It's more like a retrospective look at the album than a behind the scenes thing. Man, to be a fly on the wall during those Hawaii sessions.
And Yeezus and 808s are my 3rd and 4th favorite Kanye albums (fight me), for the brashness of his stance in pop culture at the time. He was already the one biggest rappers at these points, and came off perfect albums (Graduation and MBDTF)... so to completely go against his own legacy and the norms of hip hop sound was actually refreshing. -
Say you will was my song

Paranoid is my favorite track on 808

Initially, I hated Paranoid, now it's one of my favorite tracks on the album. Welcome To Heartbreak is and will always be my fave song on there... -

I tried listening to the whole album more than once. I just couldn't w all the autone. ? had a few decent tracks though. I always liked the Intro, love lockdown, heartless was my ? and that amazing track was dope. Heartless a top 15 Kanye track IMO -
Wish he woulda left the unmastered version of welcome to heartbreak on the album. That version dope & a top 10 kanye song to me
The album version overproduced imo -

This deserves a thread of its own
Also, somebody needs to leak the unreleased Yeezus material -

I kinda wanted to give it its own thread but that seemed like overkill to me so I just stuck it here. -
808's still gets spins in 2017, Kanye is easily a top 5 Hip Hop ARTIST of all time!

A Son can always go further than their Dad happens all the time . -

Don't really the correlation between the 2 sonically -

No doubt. I kinda agree Kanye took it and ran with it and made it so the young ? could follow..i.e. The heavy auto tune
Buts it's no secret that decision and album was influenced by Dre and The Love Below...if I'm not mistaken he's said as much
Idk what kinda weirdo ? Elz mean by not seeing the correlation sonically...Kanye never going make ? that sound like somebody else but the influence was so clear
With that said, The Love Below is a better album -
