I didn't lose anybody close but my coworker lost his wife and every year at this time he gets teary eyed. She was beautiful. I see her picture on his desk. I can't imagine losing someone that way. I've had friends who were shot to death or killed in accidents but never like that.
I remember when he got the call from one of his kids that the buildings were hit by planes. He left abruptly. Driving through New Jersey you have a clear view of the NYC skyline. As he was driving to try to get to her he watched the buildings collapse.. We all light candles at work for him every Sept 11th.
Thessalonians 5:4,9-10 "For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. For ? has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him."

I knew someone who didnt' go to work the day the towers collaspsed .... she woke up and just called in that day for no reason at all.
Also my cousin lost her house in Katrina. She got married 2 days before the storm hit. She knew that they were asking folks to leave New Orleans so she packed up a few important things and went on her honeymoon. When she was able to come back... everything else was gone -
