Man, Me and one of my boys got into a huge debate about this the other day. He came up to me for my opinion cause he was debating someone else about it so he was like "Yo which was the better intro, STILLmatic or Dynasty"?. Well 1st I told him he hit it on the head cause those were the best 2 intros of their careers. I told him I felt NaS had the best line of both songs, "Blood of a Slave, Heart of the King". But something had me leaning more towards the Dynasty intro. I think both beats are Classics and both lyrics are dope. I told him it may be a draw but If I had to choose, Damn you guys tell me:

Uh, you know I still run with that, that blood of a slave
Boiling in my veins
It's just hot until a ? can't take it no more
Blood of a slave, Heart of a King
Turn my voice up

Ayo, the brother is "Stillmatic"
I crawled up out of that grave, wiping the dirt, cleaning my shirt
They thought I'll make another "Illmatic"
But it's always forward I'm moving
Never backwards stupid here's another classic

C-Notes is falling from the sky
By now the credits roll starring Nas executive poet, produced, directed by
The Kid slash Escobar
Narration describes the lives and laws tribes in the ghetto trying to survive
The feature opens with this young black child
Finger scratch, cigarette burns on the sofa, turning the TV down
Mary Jane girls, 45's playing, soft in the background
? from C-Town's mornings was hash browns
Stepped over dope fiends, walking out the door, all of us paw
I learned the difference between the snitches, the real ones, and who's soft
And the murderous, hungriest crews
People jumping from roofs, shotguns pumping made it through my youth
Walking very thin lines, ages seven and nine
That's the age I was on my album cover, this is the rebirth
I know the streets thirst water like Moses
Walking through the hot desert searching to be free
This is my end and my new beginning Nostalgia
Alpha and Omega places, it's like a glitch in the matrix
I seen it at all, did it all, most of y'all been pop for a minute
Spitters, sinners and the game get rid of y'all

Y'all got there but y'all didn't get it all, I want my style back
Hate to cease y'all plan it's the rap reaper man
To them double up hustlers, bidders, ? who real
Professionals, stick up childs dreaming for meals
Let my words guide you, get inside you
From Crips to Pirus this is survival

Blood of a Slave, Heart of a King
Blood of a Slave, Heart of a King
Uh, uh Blood of a Slave, Heart of a King
Uh, yea
Huh, Braveheart

It's the Dynasty ? ... as promised...
The world's most infamous...
Roc-A-Fella Records...
This is Roc La Familia...
It's Young Hova... Beanie Sigel... Memphis Bleek... Amil-lion...
It's the Dynasty ? ... 2000 to infinity...
This is ghetto to ghetto.. gutter to gutter..
Street corner to street corner.. project to project..
Worldwide... walk with us ? ...
Hoffa... Dash... it's the Dynasty ?
Check it out...
Uhh... walk with me... talk to me... yo..

The theme song to +The Sopranos+
plays in the key of life on my, mental piano
Got a strange way of seein life like
I'm Stevie Wonder with, beads under the doo-rag
Intuition is there even when my vision's impaired, yeah
Knowin I can go, just switchin a spare
On the highway of life, ? it's sharp in my sight
Oh! Keen senses ever since I was a, teen on the benches
everytime somebody like Enus was mentioned
I would turn green, me, bein in the trenches
Him, livin adventureous not worryin about expenditures
I'm bravin temperatures below zero, no hero
No father figure, you gotta pardon a ?
But I'm starvin my ? , and the weight loss in my figure
is startin to darken my heart, bout to get to my liver
Watch it my ? , I'm tryin to be calm but I'm gon' get richer
through any means, with that thing that Malcolm palmed in the picture
Never read the Qu'ran or Islamic scriptures
Only psalms I read was on the arms of my ?
Tattooed so I carry on like I'm non-religious

Clap whoever stand between Shawn and figures
? , say it's the dawn/Don but I'm superstitious
? is as dark as it's been, nothin is goin as you predicted
I move with biscuits, stop the hearts of ? actin too suspicious
This is, food for thought, you do the dishes

Damn, they both murdered it.

    He did but I'd say:

    Lyrics NaS > Jay
    Beat Jay > NaS

Even though Benzino and the mademen killed it on that NaS beat. What makes "STILLmatic Intro" so ILL was it was like litterally the Re-birth of NaS, he was coming out of the "Grave" as he says in the rhyme, he saying he's not lookin back to his past but movin foward to his future, everyone could relate to that. "Dynasty Intro" was very dark it was like Jay letting everyone know he's King and what he has to deal with. Both intros claim the crown of NY in them.

And people don't confuse this as a "STILLmatic Vs Dynasty" album cause clearly NaS's album is better. But out of all of Jay's intro's and NaS's, these two really stood out to me. "Prelude" was fire also but this intro was slightly better than that. Lyrically all the Vol 3 intros were pretty ILL also but I'd give it to "Dynasty" as Jay's best intro lyrically, flow and beat wise as well as "STILLmatic" for NaS.

Nas and Jay Z went in on those intros and spit some of the best verses that they've ever spit. Overall, I give the slight edge to Stillmatic due to the production and the intro was all or nothing for Nas and he stepped up to the plate. I like the beat to the "Dynasty Intro", but I always felt that it was somewhat overrated. Just has far better beats than that one.
