What rappers over the years, that had the talent but never quiet lived up to the hype or their talent and just phased away or never had the success they could have?

Luda is the first name that popped up as a ? who hasn't lived up to his potential. Lyrically, he has it and is one of the illest in the game. But when it comes to his albums, he's lacking something. Which I think surprises a lot of people because he doesn't live up to that Nas/Jay standard that he is capable of.

Same ? I was thinking this ? must be a Nas hater, Nas had multiple plat albums and has one of the best catalog's in hip hop music. -

I think I would have to disagree. If anything he has evolved and became a more well rounded artist, the thing people forget is that on Illmatic it was just him spitting with not a lot of subject matter or content to the songs, but as years went by he has improved on that aspect. Unless you mean he wasn't commercial enough. -
he didnt have that commercial success great rappers have
anyone could go plat in the 90s and early 2000s
but as of now he hasnt lived up to his potential -

His last album went gold, with little to no radio play, that HAS to count for something. -

This is the dude who made classic songs and is susposed to be some ppls number 1 yet he cant go plat

I guess he can do it if he makes the type of records that get played in the club today. -

i dont even know Nas but the music is dope but its almost like he lost it
Compare The Message or Reweind to some ? on Untitled and its like...no comparison -

Jay had a solid album with BP3.
it wasnt too commercial like C3 and it made Plat
Relaspse did also
Nas should go indie -

BP 3 was a very commercial sounding album. I agree that it was a solid album.
Eminem has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fans than Nas and he can ? all through the album and it will still go plat. -

You thinking his music isn't what it once was does not equate to him not living up to his potential. He went Platinum with Stillmatic, He debuted at No.1 with Hip Hop Is Dead and damn near went platinum with that album also. He's recognized as being an Elite MC by both fans and his peers (He's on more Top 5 lists than not). How Nas can be classified as not living up to his potential is something I can never understand. -

wasnt too commercial
it was just such a good hip hop album it even reached pop fans
Nas should have more fans cuz he been in the game longer but i guess its all work ethic
And Em may joke around a lil bit but all his albums were good
