Agnosticism in the black community: Is it what's really good?

Unfortunately mods love to stifle conversation so I gotta make another thread, but it is what it is.
Some people claim to be agnostics, but they clearly don't know what the term even means. They think that it's a position on the knowability of the existence of ? , but this is a gross oversimplification.
Unless a person claims that they KNOW that ? exists or not, they are an agnostic. So every atheist I've ever heard of is an agnostic atheist. Most religious people are agnostic believers. A few are gnostic, claiming to have first-hand knowledge of the existence of ? , but this is a small minority.
Some people label themselves as agnostics because they think the existence of ? cannot be proven one way or the other, but this means that they are atheists because they clearly do not believe ? exists. Why would you believe in something that can't be proven to exist?
Anyway, feel free to discuss this and other topics.

Great thread. I haven't read any of the replies yet so this isn't targeted at anyone in particular, but if anyone talks about janklow moving this thread, they admit to being ? .

I agree with the Op and all add my own bit.
I usually define Agnostic as someone "who believes but does not know". Under that definition, I think most people could be defined as some sort of agnostic. A theist "believes in ? , but does not know" with absolute certainty that ? exists. Likewise, an Atheist "believes there is no ? , but does not know" that ? does not exist. They're all basically Agnostic Atheist or Agnostic Theists. -

Yeah, I agree. It takes a pretty self-centered person to think that ? could allow all the atrocities in human history but would never give your wife cancer. -

I didntknow there was a difference and from I just read online im not quite sure i understand the difference. atheist deny gods existence but agnostics believe its impossible to know,so basically atheists give reasons and agnostics dont even try?

Theists believe that a ? exists
Atheists reject the notion a ? exists
Agnostic says a ? existence(or lack of) is unprovable -
you can be an agnostic atheist or an agnostic theist or an agnostic deist
or you can be a gnostic any of those
but you can't just be "agnostic"
it holds no meaning by itself -

without knowing the existence of ? = theist
without knowing the none existence of ? = atheist

do you have to have perfect knowledge of the truth value of a proposition before you say what you believe about it?
