Good one....

Pun spoke on more issues than he gets credit for, he was a real insightful dude...
I didn't become an AZ supporter to well after Doe or Die...

I was just listening to Capital Punishment (The album & The Song) yesterday. He was speaking on some gov't injustice type stuff. It kinda got overshadowed by the "Still Not A Player" single & "Deep Cover" which were both dopeMastaAceTheGOAT wrote: »az, incredible lyrics. to me with illmatic and 36 chambers, it was the defining east coast album of the 90's. pun's is a straight classic tho
I agree. It's a shame that Doe Or Die is so often overlooked.
Songs like "We Can't Win" were on par with "Capital Punishment" as far as content goes. Both of them had similar rhyme styles too. -

Perhaps "Gov't Injustice" were the wrong words for it, but the first verse was commenting on some social ills in regard to gov't. -

Yes it was brilliant, and Twinz isnt even the best song on CP, Superlyrical is -
The best song is Rather Unique. The best album: Capital Punishment.

Wow, you guys come up with the wackest comparison. Big Pun can't ? with AZ. Do or Die was way better.

Really?? You saying AZ can mess with BIG PUN's wordplay? Puns flow was ridiculous that man could rapidly spit so many rhymes and multis in one breath it seemed endless. And thats not 2 say AZ couldnt but PUN took it to another level. To be perfectly honest I believe if KOOL G RAP was to retire and had to choose between BIG PUN & AZ as of to who was going to carry the torch he would choose PUN. I believe certain hiphop fans tend to over rate do or die because it was overlooked during its release. Capitol punishment recieved way more acclaim not just off record sales but also due to his lyrical contribution to the game. His impact was waaay more serious. When I first heard Pun on the soul in the hole soundtrack I immediately became a fan. I really wish Pun was still with us here today cause like NAS said "he was the last shining star I could feel".
CP got my vote
