My man your about 8 years late. The Gucci's originally dropped back in the 80's but Gucci never thought to bring them back. Jay-z teamed up with Reebok in 2003 and sampled the original design. Most brands do this now.

I'm not late at all. What I was saying is that Gucci is re-releasing them and my question was is there copyright infringement on sneakers. The same way if you use someone's beat without their approval or if you make an item (say ipad) in the likeness of another.

Clothing can be trademarked, but that's it. It falls under the 'utilitarian' provision.
That's why you can make knock-offs legally, but you cannot falsify the brand. That's you see everything logo'ed up -
