what is the context of this quote?

not that it really matters, i guess... but, it does make sense in that it definitely has a better chance of being a bigger media story.

The quote by itself means absolutely nothing to me.... It's irrelevant by itself.

I could be reading too much into it, but the quote seem to suggest a racial bias; that because of what being "white" represented...innocence. The mentality that because you are white, you are innocent.

That's how I feel. Either way, white male childs haven't grown up to be victims for the most part......

Yeah I caught that too...since when have most white male children grown up to be innocent?

The quote does not represent that since it states 'of perfect innocence'. This means a 'white male child' could range from pure evil to pure innocence but to choose the best 'sacrifice' to pull from the end of the pure innocence spectrum. What is racist and sexist about the quote is a black female is not as good a sacrifice even if she possesses the same traits of intellect and innocence as a white male.

However this was not Crowley's intent. First off Crowley was a fraud. His shtick was to produce outrage and anger by mainstream americans and in turn appeal to growing counter culture of the time. He very specifically choose white male children as American was very 'white' and very patriarchal at the time. Females are often portrayed as victim in story and literature (the damsel in distress thing). We are 'comfortable' with those stories due to our familiarity with them, however swap in some WASP daddies first born son as the victim and it strikes a different cord. The quote was specifically crafted to rattle 'white' america's cage and it work quite well as people still take about Crowley to this day.

*EDIT* Ignore this post. I got this crazy nut confused with Anton Levay, a different crazy nut.
