Why is the term "? " or "? " the single most used insult in White America? Was there some type of mass e-mail that went to all Caucasians stating that "? " was in style? Wikipedia says that it started in the mid-1900's, but I've only noticed it picking up steam in the past decade.

I looked it up cuz i was curious.
Jive turkey basically means someone that's talking out their ass about something they know nothing about. Like a pseudo-intellectual (a phrase that a jive turkey would use).
Jive was a ballroom dance that black folks did in the 40's (a variant of swing). I suppose that it was a slick looking dance so it translated to a person talking slick like he's dancing with his words (my interpretation).
Calling somebody a turkey i can imagine is in reference to telling someone that they were stuffed full of ? . Quit as it's kept, black folks actually put a lot of wit into their words. Everything that we say that whitey think is Ebonics has multiple and complex meanings and variants. Sucka. -
