Reason I ask is cause I can't. I seen so many good/great movies but can't think of one that tops them all.

One of my favorites is Shawshank Redemption.

Wondered if there is one movie most can agree is the GOATEST.

Scarface is an obvious contender, but is it the greatest of all time?

Please throw in ya 2 pence and give reasons why you think it's the GOATEST.

Goodfellas. A contender for Top 5 or 10.

The commentary is what makes the film.

Goodfellas is the most overrated movie of all time.

Godfather I and II are way better than Goodfellas and that's not even close.

just going by Martin Scorsese films Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Casino and The Departed are all better than Goodfellas.

The departed is NOT better than goodfellas.

I guess theres a valid arguement for Taxi driver casino.

I havent seen mean streets or raging bull.

it's all opinion but the film industry seems to think otherwise given the Oscar nod so it's not a stretch.

Goodfellas is more overrated because it's a Scorsese film. dude has movies like Mean Streets, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull in his catalog and all everyone want to talk about is Goodfellas. plus even he outdid that movie later on with Casino.

LOL at The Departed being better than Goodfellas. The Departed isn't even better than the original (Infernal Affairs) and it's nowhere near Scorsese's best

...and yes, The Dark Knight is overrated and isn't the masterpiece some people like to make out it is

says you, stating your opinion as fact doesn't make it one. i liked The Departed better and so did a lot of people apparently since it won the Oscar. it was less predictable and had better performances. you know what is going to happen at every turn in Goodfellas and the voice over dialog is annoying

You're free to agree to disagree with what I say, I couldn't give a ? , but don't start catching feelings or accusing me of forcing my opinion on here as fact. If you don't like me disagreeing with you then why come on here?

Lets face it, everyone knows the reason The Departed won all the Oscars that year was because Martin Scorsese was long overdue an award for his better films e.g. Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, etc. The general consensus was it wasn't his strongest film but he had been overlooked for so long they had to give it to him, and I've got no issue with that, and if you'd already seen Infernal Affairs then everything in The Departed was predictable because Scorsese lifted straight from it. United 93 was a stronger film then that, feel free to agree or disagree

I haven't seen the original so I can't really say, but I get your position. Joe Pesci did make Goodfellas what it is though....

You can watch Infernal Affairs on Youtube, but to be honest if you've already seen The Departed first then you'll probably prefer that anyway:

i'm still suprised that so many people consider scarface a great movie... entertaining ? yes...great movie? naw..

but goodfellas is IMO a great movie...

i find it difficult to say what movie i consider the best i've seen....

but it's out of: Primal fear, good fellas, godfather 1 &2, heat, fight club, american beauty, jurassic park, usual suspects, pulp fiction, natural born killers, a few good men

idk why crime movies are so damn good... but they are

    I can't choose one sorry

    - Pulp Fiction
    - City of ?
    - The Silence of the Lambs
    - Momento
    - American History X
    - Casino
    - The Prestige
    - Wall-E (yes ? the cartoon movie... watch it before you judge it's great)

Also from earlier in the thread I gotta co-sign: The Godfather, The Departed, and Goodfellas... loved those three movies, i've probably seen all three of those atleast 50 times all together
