Page: Sometimes I would stand outside the glass window of the Trump campaign and look in admiringly, but I never ventured to set foot inside. I was not involved in any way, except I did sign a non-disclosure agreement, it will turn out, and met repeatedly with Sam Clovis. Honestly, no one wants me to be involved, ever. All my emails to them were unwelcome and went unreturned. I never went to Trump Tower, except for the fly-swatter incident. Whenever I showed up at Trump Tower, they would shoo me away with a big fly-swatter. One or two times or maybe eight. Ninety times. I never spoke directly to Donald Trump.

Michael Flynn Worried About His Son’s Potential ‘Legal Exposure’ in Mueller Probe, CNN Reports

Recent reporting revealed that Robert Mueller‘s investigation is looking into not just Michael Flynn, but his son Michael Flynn Jr. as well. NBC News reported this week that Mueller has “enough evidence” to bring charges against both Flynns:

Flynn’s son, Michael G. Flynn, who worked closely with his father, accompanied him during the campaign and briefly worked on the presidential transition, could be indicted separately or at the same time as his father, according to three sources familiar with the investigation.

If the elder Flynn is willing to cooperate with investigators in order to help his son, two of the sources said, it could also change his own fate, potentially limiting any legal consequences.

Well, per a new CNN report tonight, the elder Flynn is in fact worried about “the potential legal exposure of his son.”

And while CNN’s reporting says it’s not clear either Flynn will face charges, both of them are indeed subjects of the investigation:

Interviews conducted by special counsel investigators have included questions about the business dealings of Flynn and his son such as their firm’s reporting of income from work overseas, two witnesses interviewed by the team told CNN. The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) requires people acting as agents of foreign entities to publicly disclose their relationship with foreign countries or businesses and financial compensation for such work.

Flynn Jr., who served as his father’s chief of staff and top aide, was actively involved in his father’s consulting and lobbying work at their firm, Flynn Intel Group. That included joining his father on overseas trips, such as Moscow in December 2015. During that trip, Flynn dined with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a black-tie gala for the RT television network, which US intelligence views as a Russian propaganda outlet.

GOP Congressman Calls for Mueller’s Resignation or Firing in House Speech

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) got up in front of the House of Representatives on Wednesday and delivered an impassioned speech against Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his investigation. This comes after Gaetz called for a resolution declaring Mueller to be compromised, arguing that he cannot be impartial since he was FBI Director at the time of the Uranium One deal, where a Russian company was allowed to buy another company that controlled a significant share of the U.S. uranium industry.

“We are at risk of a coup d’état in this country if we allow an unaccountable person with no oversight to undermine the duly-elected President of the United States,” Gaetz said, “and I would offer that is precisely what is happening right now with the indisputable conflicts of interest that are present with Mr. Mueller and others at the Department of Justice.”

Due to this, Gaetz said he is “calling for Mr. Mueller’s resignation or his firing.”

Gaetz went on to say that there should be a special counsel to look into the Clinton Foundation, the Fusion GPS dossier, and the Uranium One deal. That deal took place under President Barack Obama, while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. The deal was approved by several federal agencies, including the State Department. Republicans have alleged that the State Department approved the deal because the Russian company gave a hefty donation to the Clinton Foundation.

WSJ: Justice Dept. Seeking Plea Deal With Manafort’s Former Son-In-Law

Justice Department prosecutors are trying to secure a plea deal with Jeffrey Yohai, Paul Manafort’s former son-in-law, in an investigation into Yohai’s real estate dealings, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday morning.

The Journal cited unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The criminal investigation into Yohai by the DOJ and Los Angeles U.S. attorney’s office is separate from the probe into Manafort by special counsel Robert Mueller. However, Manafort is linked to the Yohai investigation, since he was an investor in Yohai’s real estate projects.

Federal investigators have been looking into real estate purchases made by Yohai through shell companies. He bought the properties with a loan from private lender Genesis Capital, using Manafort’s home in New York as collateral, USA Today reported in October. Yohai had planned to renovate and flip the properties, but his plan did not work out and at least one of the companies has now filed for bankruptcy.

In a September court filing, Yohai accused Manafort of misleading the court in a legal battle over how Manafort would purchase the projects out of bankruptcy.

It is not clear what charges federal prosecutors would like Yohai to plea guilty to, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Yoahi’s lawyer, Aaron May, told the Journal in a statement that Yohai “has not been charged with any crime nor has he entered into any plea agreements.”

NYT: Papadopoulos Told Stephen Miller About His Russia Contacts

George Papadopoulos told his Trump campaign colleague Stephen Miller, now a top White House official, about his efforts to coordinate a meeting between Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the New York Times reported Friday.

According to the Times, Miller is the unnamed “senior policy adviser” described in emails that were included in the recently unsealed charges against Papadopoulos.

In one April email, Papadopoulos emailed that “senior policy adviser” to inform him that “the Russian government has an open invitation by Putin for Mr. Trump to meet him when he is ready.”

Two days later, after a London-based professor with ties to the Russian government told Papadopoulos that the Russians had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton, he followed up with another message saying he had “some interesting messages coming in from Moscow about a trip when the time is right.”

The Times report marks the first time that Miller has been identified as one of the campaign staffers who was in regular contact with Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his communications with Russia-linked foreign nationals.

Miller also attended a March 2016 meeting of the campaign’s foreign policy team in which Papadopoulos told Trump directly that he could set up a meeting with him and Putin.

Neither Miller or his lawyer responded to the Times’ request for comment.

The senior White House adviser was interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team late last week. CNN reported that the discussion focused in part on Miller’s role in the firing of FBI Director James Comey, who was overseeing the investigation into Russia’s interference in the U.S. election.

Miller helped Trump draft an initial memo he planned to send outlining the reasons Comey should be fired. Other White House officials stepped in to keep that memo from going out over concerns that some of its arguments were problematic.

The special counsel’s team reportedly has a copy of the initial draft letter.

Donald Trump Jr. and WikiLeaks Engaged in a Secret 10-Month Correspondence

The Atlantic’s Julia Ioffe just came out with a blockbuster report revealing that Donald Trump Jr. and WikiLeaks carried out a 10-month correspondence during the 2016 presidential campaign and in the months following. The messages were turned over to congressional investigators and obtained by The Atlantic. And while the messages were mostly one-sided by WikiLeaks, Trump Jr. did respond from time to time:

According to a source familiar with the congressional investigations into Russian interference with the 2016 campaign, who requested anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, on the same day that Trump Jr. received the first message from Wikileaks, he emailed other senior officials with the Trump campaign, including Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Brad Parscale, and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, telling them Wikileaks had made contact. Kushner then forwarded the email to campaign communications staffer Hope Hicks. At no point during the 10-month correspondence does Trump, Jr. rebuff Wikileaks, which had published stolen documents and was already observed to be releasing information that benefited Russian interests.

One back-and-forth between the Trump scion and the transparency organization took place in early-October when WikiLeaks asked the Trump campaign to comment and push on a story involving Hillary Clinton calling for WikiLeak’s founder Julian Assange to be droned. “Already did that earlier today,” Trump Jr. responded. “It’s amazing what she can get away with.”

Days later, Trump Jr. also tweeted out a link that WikiLeaks provided him in a series of messages.

After that, then-candidate Donald Trump’s son stopped responding to WikiLeak’s direct messages. But that didn’t stop the organization from hitting Trump Jr. up with more aggressive requests. One message in late-October 2016 involved WikiLeaks asking for the senior Trump’s tax returns.

Hey Don. We have an unusual idea,” Wikileaks wrote on October 21, 2016. “Leak us one or more of your father’s tax returns.” Wikileaks then laid out three reasons why this would benefit both the Trumps and Wikileaks. One, The New York Times had already published a fragment of Trump’s tax returns on October 1; two, the rest could come out any time “through the most biased source (e.g. NYT/MSNBC).”

It was also noted that after a lengthy period of near-silence, WikiLeaks sent Don Jr. a message following the bombshell story of his Trump Tower meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya. While Trump Jr. didn’t respond to the message, he did publicly post his emails surrounding the meeting, something that WikiLeaks suggested (though they wanted to be the ones who published them).
