Its different this time. Automation durin' industrialisation brought about new jobs and sectors, new sciences new everything. Automation this time means software can learn to manage projects at businesses, it means the richest companies in the world have fewer employees. Automation in the computer era really does nothin' for people who have no other skills and are too old or inept to learn newer, far more complicated ? -

? like this is why there's a number of governments beginning to test out universal wages or whatever the ? they call it...
AI and robotics will make almost ALL of the jobs we know of today obsolete.
We're staring in the face of a new epoch in human history that has long been theorized by SCI-FI.... -

That roadster is fast ?
0 to 60 1.9
0 to 100 4.2
Quarter mile 8.9
Top speed over 250 + mph
https://youtu.be/-kY6rCAuLpQ
Musk claimed the base model will do 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds. If true, that would make it the first time a production vehicle cracked the two-second threshold. He also said the new Roadster would climb from 0 to 100 mph in 4.2 seconds, and will clear the quarter mile in 8.9 seconds -
well...they’re gonna still need people to take care of the robots.
We gone be alright, right? -

Only if you're in IT.
I'm still waiting for the future cities to look like Ghost in The Shell, and Akria. -
This is going to be rough for independent truck drivers who just got their CDL and HAZMAT.
-
The technology is out there. You can't turn it back. People have to constantly adapt for forward progression to happen. The advent of electricity killed the coal miners jobs. Life goes on. Keep up.
That Roadster is wild! -
Automation and advancements will only push humanity forward. The species will be forced to become more intelligent since menial jobs will be done for us. We will be able to focus on more high level initiatives.
Natural selection if you ask me. Only concern is the kickback from those left behind. -
I'm a truck driver and I can tell you my job is safe

IT is being automated
White collar office work is being automated.
Call centers
Bank tellers
Insurance claims adjusters
https://www.forbes.com/sites/gilpress/2017/11/12/forrester-predicts-that-ai-enabled-automation-will-eliminate-9-of-us-jobs-in-2018/#74a30ffe12b0
This article indicates that automation will replace 9% of jobs in the states. So you know it's closer to 12-14%. That's anywhere from 14m to 40m people affected.
Automation has turned an advantage of the industrial age into a severe liability: population.
Before 2025 we're gonna have more people than we have jobs to give. That's gonna lead to a lot of social unrest. Major cities are gonna become dens of poverty.
