Rigondeaux Smiles: Top Rank Will Never Recover From Loma Loss!
    By Elisinio Castillo

WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs) is a boxer who smiles often, but he smiles wide and clear when discussing how his victory over Vasyl Lomachenko will be a stake in the heart for the Ukrainian's promoter, Top Rank.

Several years ago, Rigondeaux was promoted by Top Rank and had a bad falling out with the Las Vegas-based company.

Now Rigondeaux will move up by two full weight divisions to challenge Lomachenko (9-1, 7 KOs), one of Top Rank's big company names, for the WBO super featherweight title in an ESPN televised main event from The Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Rigondeaux and Lomachenko are both amateur boxing legends. Each boxer has captured gold in two Olympic games.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, believes Lomachenko will knock Rigondeaux out.

But Rigondeaux says his win will ? Top Rank and damage them far worse than what happened in 2013, the Cuban boxer dominated Nonito Donaire - who at the time was one of Top Rank's biggest stars.

"Let them talk and enjoy this moment before the storm comes," Rigondeaux told George Ebgro. "I'm going to hit Top Rank so hard that they will not recover. The Nonito thing will be nothing compared to this.''

Lomachenko is a very big favorite in the fight, but Rigondeaux is not impressed.

"In the end he's another boxer, knowing what happened after Nonito, now I'm calmer. Whatever happens I'm going to keep winning, a tremendous expectation has been created with Lomachenko, but he's another one in line, nothing more than that," Rigondeaux said.

The WBA has placed a lot of pressure on Rigondeaux. They recently stated that if Rigondeaux loses his upcoming fight, he will no longer recognized as the WBA's "super" champion.

    But Rigo is not worried.

"Those things always happen to me, why is that? Those people are always inventing things. If they want to get the title removed, I go back to my weight and I'll take it away from anyone, I'll conquer it back, but I'm not going to give it to them. [It doesn't matter because] I do not intend to lose," Rigondeaux said.

Hearn to Sadam Ali: Kell Brook Coming for Your 154-Pound Title
    By Keith Idec

It didn’t take long for potential opponents to start calling out Sadam Ali.

Eddie Hearn issued a challenge to the new WBO super welterweight champion Sunday in which the British promoter let Ali know Kell Brook wants to fight for his 154-pound championship. Hearn’s company promotes England’s Brook, who is expected to return to the ring sometime early in March against a soon-to-be-named opponent.

Hearn indicated that Brook will face a lesser opponent than Ali in his first fight as a full-fledged 154-pounder before trying to secure a shot at Ali’s title. Brook hasn’t fought since suffering another fractured orbital bone during his 11th-round knockout loss to undefeated Errol Spence Jr. on May 27 in Sheffield, England, Brook’s hometown.

Brooklyn’s Ali (26-1, 14 KOs) is represented by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. Golden Boy and Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing work with HBO, which televised Ali’s upset of Miguel Cotto (41-6, 33 KOs) in the Puerto Rican legend’s farewell fight Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Golden Boy president Eric Gomez contacted Hearn regarding Brook’s availability to challenge Cotto on Saturday night, but Brook was not yet medically clear to return to training for a fight that would’ve taken place that soon.

The 31-year-old Brook (36-2, 25 KOs) had surgery to repair a broken eye socket, this time around his left eye, after losing his IBF welterweight title to Spence (22-0, 19 KOs) six months ago. He previously had surgery to fix a fractured right eye socket following his fifth-round technical knockout loss to IBF/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) in September 2016 in London.

Damn.. I guess all that talk about Hurd,Lara & Charlo was just talk…

WBC Prez Slams HBO: They Prevented Salido-Roman Title Fight!
    By Mauricio Sulaiman

The abuse of power has once again hit our sport in a dramatic way as Orlando Salido and Micky Roman will be prevented from accomplishing their dream of winning the WBC title due to a decision taken by a man sitting behind a desk and mandating terms of their bout.

HBO has mandated their fight to be only for 10 rounds.

The promoters have no say in the matter and simply take the orders from the power force of the sport, the TV Network.

Tom Loeffler, Fernando Beltran and Oswaldo Kuchle simply have to bow down and remain quiet and accept to go against the essence of our sport, I wonder how will they look into the eyes of their fighters to explain that they will not be competing for the WBC green belt, that their fight is a simple 10 round fight with no meaning whatsoever. It will be like watching a pre season game of the NFL.

HBO will be airing a 10 round main event next Saturday night from Las Vegas Mandalay Bay.
The WBC will not disrespect the sport and sanction a world title fight for 10 rounds, that would have been easy to do and join the bandwagon, but the WBC Board would not favor such as there is no real explanation of the change from 12 to 10.

The WBC accepted a request for Salido to fight Miguel Berchelt in a title defense of the WBC super featherweight championship, the fight was accepted by HBO. Then, when Berchelt injured his hand, the WBC in support of the card, accepted to sanction a fight for the WBC interim title between Salido and Roman.

I am very sorry for Salido as he has expressed countless times his dream of becoming WBC champion, I am very sorry for Roman who has done the same and I am very sorry for boxin

Eubank Jr. Aims To Become The Next 'Mayweather' of Las Vegas

IBO super middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. admits that he's a man on a mission - and his "ultimate goal" is to one day become the biggest star in Las Vegas since five division world champion Floyd Mayweather.

Eubank Jr. is preparing himself for the biggest fight of his career, a semi-final bout in the World Boxing Super Series tournament with WBA champion George Groves at Manchester Arena on February 17.

Eubank trained alongside Mayweather when he was preparing for his August bout with Conor McGregor. It was one of many stints for Eubank in terms of training at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas.

Eubank Jr. has also put in work with Floyd's father and head trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr.

Now that Mayweather, 40 years old, has retired from the sport, Eubank Jr. wants to become the next Vegas king.

For the better part of his career, Mayweather made the city of Las Vegas - and specifically the MGM Grand - his home for major fights.

Now Eubank Jr. wants to follow in his footsteps.

"That's the ultimate goal for any fighter, to fight in those big casinos, on that strip in Las Vegas, Madison Square Garden, New York - all those iconic venues," said Eubank Jr. to Sky Sports.

"Chris Eubank Jr will [recreate the Mayweather hype in Las Vegas], in the not too distant future. In the very near future, that's where I'm going to be - up on the side of the MGM [Grand], name in bright lights.

"Listen, I've made a great name for myself in this country and I will continue to do so, but it's definitely always been a dream of mine to transform that name over to the American soil, where so many great fighters have proven themselves and become legends."

During his many visits to Las Vegas, Eubank Jr. has studied Mayweather and took detailed notes on how the most successful fighter in boxing history lives his life inside and outside of the gym.

"Like [Mayweather] says, hard work and dedication," said Eubank Jr. "He lives the life. He doesn't drink. He may put on a show for the cameras, but behind closed doors, he's dedicated, just the same as me."
