Jaz's problem was that he released two albums in the late 80s and neither one of them was hot. By the time Jay Z started poppin in the mid 90s, Jaz was like one of those novelty rappers from 5 years ago.

Jaz-O can rhyme, but he missed his opportunity.

I heard Jay Z offered him a deal circa 1999 and he didn't take it.

Just about to say that, he should have took the deal, cuz he was never cooking mid late 90’s nobody else was going to sign them.

Didn't he turn the deal down because he thought Jay lowballed him for not coughing up millions for him to sign? Hate people like that: give you a quarter water one time in life and pop up when you're popping like, "Yo, remember when I gave you 27 cents? Bruh, how you not gonna let me get the loan at 2%/$40 in burgers/80% off the store/your second car?"

    Thats basically what happened.

I saw an interview on the internet a while back. He said he thought he should get per diem while he was recording his album and they wouldn't give it to him.

How was Jay gonna offer more? This was before they got the Def Jam deal ..... dudes were paying for everything out of pocket.

Also Jaz was salty when people was joking in the studio saying Jay was better ........

Then it all went down hill after Jay didn't show up to Jaz video shoot for the song Let's Go in '01

Rocafella was distributed through Def Jam at that time. I was around 1999- 2000 if memory serves me right. Right when Beans brought in State Prop and everyone was getting deals.

Jaz was never gonna pop off like that as a mc. It was too late for him. He should of tried going to producer route or maybe A&R.

Really is refreshing to hear this sound. Have you listened to Jaz-O's albums? If so, thoughts?

Yeah but Bleek numbers aren't bad. Think of how many rap groups and artists that Bleek outsold.

I don't have the numbers in front of me but 300k units sold isn't bad.
