Reply to author | Forward | Print | Individual message | Show original | Report this message | Find messages by this author
Peep this ****...CNN just reported (no story yet, just a NEWSFLASH, so
no details yet) Tupac has been shot again 4 times - he's in critical
condition. Damn, this might be it for this brother - that's 10 times
he's taken bullets, ****! I hate to hear this ****...wonder if it has
something to do with that fight at the MTV VMAs last week...
peace

That's why i kept saying Jay-Z didn't get that love until 2003 when he got with Beyonce and become more succesful and decided to "retire".

loss of respect for the Source
I definitely have beef with them on the Best Albums of 93 ****:
Where is Midnight Marauders??? I first thought that it may have been
released too late in the year to be considered, but if Souls of Mischief
made the deadline......
Speaking of which, those of you out there who are stil sleeping on this
incredible album should go and get it. I don't really care for the two
tracks they've released ( 93 till and That's when ya Lost) but the rest
is THE next ****. Opio should have gotten "Best rap of the Year" for any
of his insane verses. The word FRESH comes to mind.
Brand Nubian? I always thought that it took more than a few good tracks
to make a years best list. They did beat Snoop on the remake tip with
their version of PRT's "Peace, Allah and Justice" or whatever it is
called. I thought Muslims couldn't smoke bud? "No Mystery" was crazy,
though. In any case, I forgot about this album a long time ago. They
didn't even put the good version of "Punks Jump up" on it either!!
Black Moon
Alkaholics
Digable Planets
Pharcyde
Masta Ase, Inc.
De la
Without a doubt, these are all worthy of this list.
Erick Sermon? I don't know about this one, I was pretty dissappointed.
EPMD forever.
As for the mega bashin of the Soul Assassin family, where did all of
this come from? A few months earlier they have Cypress on the cover and
then this? One of their racist writers must have sat next to a whiteboy
on the subway pumpin "Hits from the ? " on his walkman and bugged.
The Source preaches about 'REAL RAP" all of the time, yet, the fact that
they print an ad for the new FunkDoobiest single in the same issue as
they totally discount their whole crew shows just where the Source has
put its priorities- on making money. -

aight.. check this out
I went to the Nas / Redman / Eminem / Mobb Deep concert last night
in Hartford CT.. ? was alright.. sound was sh1tty
opening acts kinda sucked (one group called Rough even had the
audience throwing the free tapes back at them..
I'ma get to the Cormega and Nas dissing jigga in a minute but heres a
little review...
Mobb Deep comes on with about 15 heads and start with Survival of
the Fittest.. a fight breaks out
in the front row which delays Mobb for a bit - but they finished there
set and ripped **** up..
Redman comes out high as ? .. ripped some old ? ..some new ?
even jumping head first off stage one time.. that n1ggas krazy
Eminem was aight.. no one was really feeling him and the sound on his
? sucked.. he was so ? he threw the mic down and was bout
to walk off stage but then said ? it and finished his ? repeatidly
telling everyone to" throw there middle finger in the air..."
Nas comes out and just wrecks ? ..
He has Screwball and Cormega along with about 5 other dudes with
him.. during the beginning of the first verse of Life's a ? the beat
cuts out and hes about to stop but the crowd keeps singing the song
so he goes on too for the rest of the verse.. ? a beat
After he finished Cormega and Screwball did a little freestyle
w/o no beat.. which gets to the point of this post..
Cormega tells everyone how and and Nas are like brothers and
as long as they together they unstoppable (remember Cormega's track
"? Nas" kinda funny that they together now)
At the end of Cormega's flow hes like "? JIGGA, Jigga can't touch Nas!"
Which makes me think.. "Is Hova gunna let him get away with that?"
I think not.. Lets watch how this ? progresses...

Im sorry im slow but u gotta tell me the details.
Im on Google..i type in 2pac...and all that comes up is everything about 2pac from his birth to now..so how do i find the old forums and whatnot -
"A nasty...nasty...NASTY rumor that's been floating around
everyone been telling me that Rakim is preparing to sign with No Limit...this is too too outrageous for me...but if he's gonna go to No Limit, and NOT
switch his style up just for marketing, then I'm all for it " Jun 11 1999
LOL i couldn't imagine that -
LOL this is hilarious, but kinda interesting...
I knew ? have been ? about hip hop forever..... like someone said before its all cycles -
Yall need to find the origin of the Nas Lost movement, its probably in there somewhere haha
-
LOL man I was not on the internet at that time, 1993. ? I was in the Persian Gulf at that time, we barely was watching T.V., I lost but on the sidenote, we were getting that fire ass hip hop back then, when those NYC mixtapes were getting sent to our ship via dudes that had homies in NYC and mailing them to us.

Subject: Websters -> Rap is NOT music
Reply to author | Forward | Print | Individual message | Show original | Report this message | Find messages by this author
The one aspect of rap listeners that I could never figure out
is why they so doggedly insist that rap is a form of music.
NO ONE can convince me that rap is music. There is no functional
merit to it whatsoever, except maybe for a catharsis of frustrated
would-be musicians. As proof, see Webster's Ninth collegiate
dictionary:
rap n. 1. a sharp blow or knock ; slang, criminal charge or prison
sentence. 2. to talk freely and frankly.
The very word implies that rap is only talk set to mindless drum
beat, and cannot be classified as music. Beastie Boys or no, rap
does not qualify as music because it does not satisfy the requirements
for a piece of musical composition. You can't just call it music
because there happens to be a constantly repetitive, all-too-often
unoriginal musical phrase in it, which often consists of only one
note. And they call this *music*!
To say that rap is music is like saying that the WWF is a valid
competitive sport! Any yutz who can't wrestle can just gain 300 pounds
and get into the WWF, same as anyone with a modicum of rhythm and
an obnoxious voice can rap, even though they are almost-but-not-
entirely devoid of talent.
Hell, it doesn't matter, rap is going the "disco route" in a year or
so anyway, and we won't have to endure it for another 15 years when it
makes one of those unwarranted and improbable comebacks, not unlike
bell bottoms and Meat Loaf. The rest of us will be able to relax when
rap is dead, Dead, D-E-A-D!
Bill.

Just click the link. It's safe. Also you can hover your mouse over it and look at the site it's going to take you to to verify it. Finally, you can right-click it and select copy link location or whatever it says and paste it into your address bar.
It's just a link. That's how the web works - you click links. -
" That's right! That ? got shot again. This time he got shot 5x
and his right lung has been removed. Now he has 1 nut and 1 lung. Good
for his punk ASS. I can see it already comin'. 1000 messages all callin'
me a playa hata. Find a new phrase. That **** is played out. I was using
the term playa in grade school."
"I kind of hate that Tupac survived this latest round of shooting......
Not thatt I want him dead or anything.... I just know a few months
from now he's gonna be talkin more stuff about Bad boy tryin to ?
him on his next single.... He's also gonna brag that he took 4 more
shots and still survived.. that he's invincible... just like in 'Hit
em Up'....."
Wooow. But lol @ the use of "playa hata" back in 95-96. ? was hilarious. -

Aint it funny tho how ppl said the EXACT same thing back then that ppl say now?
Im reading a DMX hate thread from 98 and some ? was like "stop hatin DMX album sold records and he making money" and then dude replied sayin "i hate when ppl say that. it so manufactured..ppl always say stop hatin stop hatin" etc etc.
its creepy as hell cuz i honestly thought things had changed at least a lil bit but things is exactly the same only difference is the talent was better then. -
this ? is funny because i was in my 20's back then and those the type of conversations we had back then. 20 years from now some of yall's kids gonna look back and laugh at yall's taste in music. Especially when they read how some of yall like Gucci, Waka, Soulja and Lil B. Nas is gonna get the KRS treatment. Kids gonna be calling him wack and yall gonna be saying how dope his music was
-
Man this is amazing. Props for the link. Like going back to dinosaur times..

What is a G???? It can mean anything???
But this person want to know what it meant in Dre's video "Nuthin' but
a G thang". Well in this laid back song, a G is a gangster who is like
Snoop Dogg's personality. Cuz he has said that song is loosely base
on his experience growing up in Long Beach California.
But what is a G for real. A homeboy who doesn't try to front and is
real with himself and everybody else that he deal with.
But can a woman be a G also. Especially a Gangster ? - cuz personally
I be like to anybody regardless of sex " Whatzzzzup G!" Yet some of
my homeboyz tell me that ? is weak to call a woman G. So I tell them
go ? themselves - cuz it ain't nuthing but a word!
So I think in Dre's song - A G is a gangster who is real with themselves.
Peace
Dat Deaf Chronic G from da East Coast still puffin' on a Roach!
Duane Duane -
if anything it should be an indication to yall that ? really don't change much. Even back then nigaas were complaining about how music aint the same as it was 'back in the day'. Now we in the 2000's and ? always talk about how much doper mucis was in the 90's. when yall become old heads yall gonna be talking about how terrible music is and how it was better in the 2000s. ? don't see it now but you're gonna be the old heads still banging the Black Album and shakin your heads at shorties thinking MC 2030 is the ? LOL
I feel you OG. -
